The octagonal St. John's Baptist Church is a Class B Pontifical Temple in Florence's Cathedral Square. It is the Baptist Church of the Virgin Mary, located in the right west of the Temple, opposite the West Gate of the latter, and is one of the oldest existing buildings in Florence. The door to the cathedral is not real gold, and is known by Michelangelo as the "gate of heaven" and still lifelike after more than 600 years. Of course, the authenticity is hidden in the church.
