On the axis of the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, there is a marble obelisk of 169 meters high, the famous Washington Monument. From the Lincoln Memorial, the column of the Jefferson Memorial looks out, the monument towers into the clouds, very upright, but the marble color of the monument is about 50 meters above the body, slightly yellower than the bottom, and the color difference is particularly obvious. Why is this? Originally, in honor of the first president of the United States, George Washington, the Americans decided to build a monument for him, but the United States government at that time had no money, the construction of the monument was entirely dependent on the donation of the people, after 10 years of donation, finally began in 1833. But when the tower was built 50 meters, the Civil War broke out in 1854, and the government was forced to stop construction. Who expected this to be 22 years until the war ended and fundraising was rebuilt. When it was rebuilt, I couldn't find the original stone, so I had to re-select the material and left such a color difference trace. Later, people called it a Civil War trace. The monument can be visited on the top, but an appointment is required.
