This was our favourite hotel in Japan.
The location is very central to Kyoto, but did not feel too crowded and overwhelming. It was very easy to get around Kyoto from this hotel, with a lot of train stations close by.
The room was clean and bigger than most hotels I’ve stayed in during my trip to Japan. The finishes of the room are just gorgeous. It really feels like luxury. The smart TVs were a nice touch too.
The amenities of the spa were really good, and I loved the extra feeling of security knowing women receive a women only key card and men receive a separate one. Nice touch having washers, dryers and vending machines too.
The staff are kind and polite and are more than happy to assist you. Although I did find the self check-in a bit confusing - some translations were a bit off. Regardless, I really recommend this hotel.

Clean and has their own bath house at the top floor that opens till 1am. Next door is 711 and also a large supermarket with in few minutes walk that opens til 12am. Location wise is just a bit far from the metro. Parking wise, there is a few around the back. Overnight Parking fee is a bit high and limited.

The hotel's location isn't ideal; its primary convenience is its proximity to public transport. You'll need to take a bus to reach most places, including Kyoto Station, despite a nearby bus stop.
Breakfast was abundant but lacked flavor. Upon check-in, we were assigned an older room on the second floor and had to request a room change due to the extremely noisy bathroom exhaust fan.
The gym charges a fee for each use, and the public bath, though clean, is quite small.
Housekeeping could be more flexible; for our four-night stay, the room was only cleaned on the fourth day. Cleaning on the third day would have been much more practical. Furthermore, breakfast required selecting a fixed time slot with a voucher.

This is always my go-to hotel whenever I'm on a business trip to Kyoto. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, and feature a huge TV. The location is incredibly convenient, with Kyoto Station right outside the hotel. Don Quijote (Donki) is just a stone's throw away, offering incredibly affordable prices and a vast selection of goods. Plus, you can enjoy tax-free shopping for purchases over 5,500 JPY.
The room was free of any unpleasant odors. While there's a public bath on the 2nd floor, the in-room bathtub is almost as good, as it's incredibly spacious – I'd say two adults could comfortably sit in it. Waste separation follows the traditional three categories; just remember to peel off the labels from beverage bottles before putting them in the plastics bin.
And finally, the air freshener – it's the best I've come across in any hotel. It lasts a long time and has a subtle, elegant fragrance.

This hotel is one of the best I have ever stay! The staffs are really polite and friendly! They can speak English! They provide soaps for babies & also provide child’s pajamas which I can let my child wear when going to the onsen area before changing out. The supper ramen is really yummy N the breakfast is incredible, it’s really comprehensive! They have different onsen pools. Also they have massage chairs & snacks provided outside the onsen area! Very recommended!

The hotel service was excellent, and the premises were spotlessly clean. Its location was also very convenient for travel. I particularly enjoyed the artificial carbonated bath, which was very clean and great for relieving travel fatigue; even the toiletries were from premium brands. This stay also included a complimentary trial size of Decorté serum, which was a lovely bonus. The hotel staff were incredibly patient and helpful with all my inquiries. Furthermore, they provide washing machines, a thoughtful convenience for travelers, and vending machines are available on almost every floor. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next visit to Kyoto.

I absolutely loved this hotel in Kyoto. The service was excellent, it was spotlessly clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip.
I had assumed that all hotels from the same brand would maintain a similar standard, but today, upon checking into their Tokyo property, I discovered what a stark difference there can be. The Tokyo branch, despite being much more expensive, offered an incredibly small room. To make matters worse, it didn't even have a washing machine, a fridge, or complimentary bottled water. This has been a very unsatisfactory experience, and I'm quite let down.

First off, the location is excellent, right across from Hankyu Arashiyama. We came from Kyoto, and there's a direct bus from our Kyoto hotel, so we took the bus. We checked in at 3 PM, dropped off our luggage, and then went to explore around Togetsukyo Bridge. We also had tickets for the Arashiyama Scenic Railway at 2:30 PM.
For dinner, we had two time slots, 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM; we chose 5:30 PM, and the dinner was fantastic. The hotel also offers a late-night snack. The private onsen baths were busy at night, so we opted for the public bath, which was empty since we went early. The next morning, we chose a private bath. This stay included two meals, and we had plenty of time, so it truly felt like a vacation. Oh, and there's a tea bar on the first floor; I love mocha or cocoa. After the evening bath, there are popsicles, and after the morning bath, there's lactic acid drink. It's wonderful!

This hotel in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district blends Japanese charm with modern luxury. My room was spacious, clean, and comfy, with a great bed and soaking tub. The staff were friendly and helpful, arranging my private onsen and offering a free shuttle to Kyoto Station (20 minutes away). It’s near Higashiyama Station and Gion, yet peaceful. Breakfast was delicious—Japanese and Western options—and the tea-themed onsen was a highlight. The gym’s solid, but I loved the garden more. It’s not central, but the shuttle compensates. Parking’s 2,000 yen/night. A luxurious, authentic gem—9/10, I’d stay again!

A very satisfactory choice. Travel with parents and stayed four nights and royal park. Located near to subway kalasuma station, a good choice to explore Kyoto.
Room is spacious compared to most of hotels in Kyoto, also is clean and quiet.
Impressed by the breakfast where you can choose set menu between Japanese and American styles. Delicate dishes.
It has a lounge where you can enjoy afternoon teas and happy hour.
The public bath is a must go-to place after a long way during the day.

DDreamscomeTrueVery nice ambience and a new luxurious hotel in Kyoto close to the 清水寺。 Restaurant choices are quite limited inside the hotel complex but they have got a great spa with excellent service staff. Down the hill should be some international restaurants at Park Hyatt Kyoto another luxurious five star hotel. Breakfast bento boxes not too appetising and not much food selections for in room dining as well. But the neighbourhood was quiet and nice.
11350183****The hotel is incredibly close to Kyoto Station, with Exit 5 offering the most convenient access. The room was very quiet and cleaned daily. While disposable toiletries are not provided, there are plenty of USB charging ports. It's also very near Isetan and Yodobashi Camera. Getting to the airport, though it involves passing through Kyoto Station, is also very convenient.

GGuest UserOnline hotel bookings can often feel like a blind box draw, but Dusit Thani was definitely the right pick. Every staff member I encountered had an excellent attitude, the room was spotless, and even though the turndown service only provided a bottle of water, it was a pleasant and thoughtful touch. Thai brands truly excel in their service consciousness and aesthetic sense. The room itself was incredibly comfortable, and with no other guests in the public lobby areas, I thoroughly enjoyed the bliss of reading a book alone.

GGuest UserThe price doubles and goes up. I have stayed in this hotel many times. It always feels good. I came here again after many years and felt that the overall service and the quality of the food in the hotel were much worse. In particular, the service may be understaffed during the peak season, but it is indeed a very good hotel. Be sure not to make any mistakes when booking a hotel, otherwise he will be unkind and only care about money!
__WeChat259042****I didn't get a chance to snap photos of the room, but the hotel itself was lovely. We booked a king-sized room, and the bed was absolutely massive – it could easily sleep three people! The room was spotless, and there was plenty of space for two 20-inch suitcases. The bathtub was also pristine. A bonus was that the hotel TV even had screen mirroring! The hotel is conveniently located between Shijo and Gojo stations, both just about 400-500 meters away. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended.
SShengruxiahua116We spent our last two days here. For a hotel in Japan, it's quite good. The unique sunken lobby, accessed via a side entrance, felt special and welcoming rather than impersonal.
The room was very clean and the service was good. Since we couldn't get the same room type for our consecutive nights, our luggage was transferred to a different room while we were out for the day.
Transportation is also convenient, with Sanjo Subway Station just 150 meters away.
However, I have to say the breakfast was very mediocre! Perhaps it's tailored more towards Western palates, given the clientele?
Overall, it's a solid choice for a night or two.
1118436****The room size was barely adequate. The idea of having a separate vanity, shower, and toilet was good in theory, but the design was flawed, making it very inconvenient to place toiletries. The floor had a strange odor—neither pleasant nor foul—I couldn't tell if it was from floor polish or something else. I initially thought it was the smell from my own feet after a long day of walking.
The hotel claims to be eco-friendly, so many toiletries weren't provided, likely because there simply wasn't enough space. The service was mediocre; they didn't even replenish the bottled water when cleaning the room on the second day. After visiting several cities, I've come to realize that it's better to choose established hotels for good service and experience. Design-oriented hotels often look good but aren't practical.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is its excellent location with convenient transportation access. Shopping is extremely convenient, with Takashimaya right next door and plenty of other places to shop and many restaurants. Of course, the foot traffic is enormous, and the street can be noisy at night, so those with light sleep should think twice before booking.
GGuest UserMy wife and I booked the Classic Room for 3 nights in April 2025. We thought this was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip.
From the moment you enter the hotel, you are welcomed by the hotel staff. You leave your bags with them and you walk up to a separate reception area where you are seated and offered tea and macarons. Check in is conducted while you sip your tea. After you get your keys, you go up to your room and your luggage bags are already there. We were very impressed by the reception.
The room itself is fairly sizeable and offers a cabinet of Fauchon snacks. We had a good view of the alley behind the hotel that was lined with Sakura trees. We could also see the mountains in the distance.
The location of the hotel is also great. It is located about a 5-10 minutes walk from downtown Kyoto and about a 5 minutes walk to Kiyomizu-gojo station.
We also had breakfast which included a free flow selection of bread and pastries like French croissant, baguette and brioche. You also get a fruit plate, salad, and omelette. If you stay for more than 1 night, you also get a premium breakfast menu for your 2nd night onwards.
We will definitely return to this hotel the next time we are in Kyoto.
