One of the standout features of this hotel is the efficiency of the staff. The check-in and check-out processes were super fast, which is always appreciated after a long day of travel. Additionally, the hotel provides free parking, a major plus for those of us driving in KK where parking can often be a challenge.
The accommodations were excellent. Both the room and the toilet were spotless, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout my stay. I also appreciated that they were generous with essentials—there was sufficient drinking water provided, so I never felt the need to constantly request more.
Breakfast at the hotel was a pleasant experience. While the quality of the food was nice, I did find the variety a bit limited and hope they can provide more choices in the future to keep the buffet exciting.
However, the absolute highlight of the morning was the fresh juice station. It is easily the best part of the breakfast service; you can request specific fruits, and the staff prepares the juice freshly for you right on the spot. It’s a personalized touch that really elevates the meal.

Strategically located in the city centre. Walking distance to shopping malls, eateries, and the popular Gaya Street. Room was spacious, clean, and good for a single traveller like me. Much improvement and refurbishment/renovation is needed for its interior if this hotel intends to change from an old-school design to a newer and exclusive look. Otherwise, it gives an impression of a 1980s to 1990s era hotel room. The furniture is old and all buttons on the bedside drawers are not usable. The bathroom door has a squeaky sound.

I booked this Loft thinking it was like any other Loft that i’ve stayed before. But this here, exceeded my expectations by 100%! Le Meridien KK, thank yoy for the best stay i’ve ever had in my life. A very very big thank you to Natalie & Elvinna at the Club Lounge and to Herna for the swift and fuss free check-in/check out. I will be planning to try the executive suite on my next visit. Thank you!

Service: There was indeed a queue for check-in. Arrived at 4 PM, and the process was quite slow. The front desk staff spoke both Chinese and English, which was helpful. The luggage storage area was very convenient.
Facilities: Although the hotel isn't brand new, it has a gym, pool, and even a sports hall. It also has its own snorkeling area. The food and drinks at the bar and restaurant were pretty good. It's suitable for staying in and not needing to venture out.
Environment: This hotel complex is interconnected, allowing you to explore between the three hotels. There's also a pier where you can enjoy water sports and take a boat to an island (guests staying on Manukan Island board from next to this hotel).
Hygiene: Clean, tidy, and promptly serviced.

I chose this resort for the sea view, and it was definitely worth it! I emailed the front desk in advance, but didn't get the specific room I requested. However, room 7516 had an amazing sea view. Room 7430, on the other hand, had some obstructions, so that's something to keep in mind. The room itself was quite spacious, and the bathroom was also large. Breakfast was just average and a bit crowded. The whole hotel really has that resort feel, with excellent facilities and a fun pool! There are also several restaurants, cafes, and kids' facilities. All in all, it's perfect for a relaxing getaway where you can just spend the whole day at the hotel doing nothing. The only downside was the incredibly slow service. Check-in took about 10 minutes per person, and even though late check-out was arranged, my room card stopped working and I had to go back to the front desk to reactivate it.

I stayed at this hotel for three days right after arriving in the country, and I'm very grateful for its location, cleanliness, and the staff's kindness. The breakfast times and menu were also very satisfactory. I also appreciate the swimming pool facilities and the friendly staff who manage them. Furthermore, in terms of value for money, this hotel is top-notch. I'm also very thankful for the check-out time and service.

Service: Absolutely fantastic! They provide complimentary waterproof phone pouches, raincoats, eye masks, and other little essentials. Plus, there are free iced drinks and, best of all, free laundry service – perfect for a trip to Sabah! The laundry is super fast too, and the housekeeper is very responsive to guests' needs.
Facilities: Not great, actually. The space is small, and the apartment design has some issues. The shower stall has a tiny bathtub that's neither comfortable for a bath nor spacious enough for a shower. And the sink is a nightmare – water splashes everywhere the moment you wash your hands, so it feels like you're washing your hands and feet at the same time.
Environment: It's an apartment within the Imago mall. Plane noise is quite noticeable, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're a light sleeper. Since everyone takes taxis around here, convenience of transportation isn't really an issue. There's also a fish noodle restaurant in the mall that wasn't very good.
Cleanliness: Good. It was clean and tidy, with no visible stains.
Hotel was ok for the money. It looked like it had seen better days. The staff were pleasant. The bedding and towels were grey and the carpet had many dirty marks. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t seen a thorough clean in years. There was a kettle but no tea or coffee. In summary it was ok for an overnight stay on the way to the airport but definitely wouldn’t stay any longer.
We booked a renovated room, supposedly from 2 years ago, but when we arrived at 6 PM, they told us there were no rooms on the second floor, only on the first. They assured us it was the 'best room,' but as soon as we entered, there was a strong musty smell, and the hairdryer sounded like it was about to explode. After watching the sunset and having dinner, we returned to find the room getting hotter and hotter. We then realized the air conditioning was broken. It took three calls to finally get through to the front desk. The maintenance worker spent half an hour trying to fix it with no progress, and then told us we'd have to switch rooms. During all this, the room was incredibly stuffy and hot, almost unbearable. The front desk kept apologizing but only offered an extended checkout or a ride to the city the next day, and we had to decide on the spot what time we wanted to leave. This 'sorry' attitude was really disappointing and quite unbelievable.
The funniest part was that the room they moved us to was on the second floor – the very floor they said had no availability earlier. It was clean, no musty smell, and not hot at all. It makes you wonder who they were saving those rooms for, or if they were discriminating against us.
The hotel environment itself is beautiful and very photogenic, with lots of free and paid activities. Feeding the monitor lizards was fun. However, the front desk's attitude and their handling of issues were consistently poor. Exercise caution if you decide to stay here.
Also, we heard the hotel restaurants aren't great. We ate at the sunset bar, which was enough to fill us up, but you can't order takeout.

I recommend booking directly on the Shangri-La official website, as this site is just an agent and not a partnership between Trip.com and Shangri-La. The room view I was given was particularly bad, and I booked this hotel specifically to watch the sunset. The front desk was very slow; I had to wait a long time to check in. Even though it was only 15 minutes before 3 PM, they wouldn't give me the room key early; I had to wait until after 3 PM. When I opened the door to my room, there was a staff member inside, which really startled me! She had closed the door and was doing something in the room; you wouldn't have known anyone was in there if the door hadn't been opened. She left only after she saw us enter the room. The breakfast, however, was plentiful and the most satisfying part of my stay. I hope the hotel improves its service.

KKT5009Don't book during the rainy season, don't book during the rainy season, don't book during the rainy season. It's from Sep to Feb. I said 3 times it's important if you don't wanna ruin your holiday. We booked 3D2N in mid Sep. Our holiday turned out to be a staycation nightmare in the resort. We can't do all the water activities neither the jungle trekking. The water heater in our room is not working, we have to shower with shivering cold water in this kind of weather. Lots of big size anta inside the room crawling from the bathroom to the bedroom. Make sure you cleaned up for your snacks and drinks, tie up the garbage bag if you don't want these insects to come to your bed, There is also a landslide happening on our first night, luckily we are not affected as we stayed in the ocean villa. There is only one restaurant in this resort, food prices are the same as SG restaurant pricing, no cheap option here. In room dining needs to pay RM25 extra. Staff service is good but this cannot cover the several run down part of the resort.
GGuest UserOverall, I'm quite satisfied. The room was spacious, and the hotel is located right by the pier. There was dedicated staff to handle luggage, though the facilities are definitely outdated and the room had a strange odor. The service was decent, but the front desk really helped us out of a bind when an unexpected situation arose on our way back.
NNicola1974The hotel and grounds are stunning! Beautiful pools and nice beach. The hotel room (Garden superior) was nice- with a big balcony. Water, coffee, insect repellant etc was refilled daily which was a nice touch. Daily cleaning was wonderful. The breakfast was perfect - Western and local choices- but trying to get coffee was terrible- long queues and unreliable coffee machines. Most days I skipped it and bought coffee from the pool bar. Happy hour 4-6pm daily is great with regular entertainment- fire shows and tribal dancing. Bar prices are obviously very high - £45 for a bottle of cheap wine. The biggest problem with this hotel is very slow service (hard working staff but not enough to serve the guests) The staff work super long hours so I felt bad complaining when I was waiting 45 mins for drinks each day. Also, all the restaurants stop serving food around 9.30pm then everywhere closes around 10.30pm which means the evenings can be quite boring- especially when there’s nowhere else to go as the hotel is far from anywhere. The spa is overpriced but I enjoyed my facial and hot oil treatment. My last gripe is the hotel day trips- absolutely appalling. The hotel is affiliated with Sabah travel company- poor communication, poor service, hugely overpriced and generally very bad. I recommend booking day trips through Trip.com instead of through the hotel. Allen the hotel supervisor was amazing trying to sort out the fiasco and I’m grateful- but I wasn’t offered a refund or compensation which is disappointing. I wanted to leave a poor review on the Sabah Travel’s website but they removed my booking so it wasn’t possible. I’d stay at this hotel again as the price is fairly reasonable but it def falls below the usual Shangri-la standards.
GGuest UserI had a wonderful stay at this resort. The resort is very beautiful, clean, and peaceful. The staff were friendly and kind, and they even provided an extra bed for my kids, which made our stay more comfortable.
The beachfront location is amazing and very convenient for kids to do snorkeling safely. I also love that there were no sandflies, so it felt safe and comfortable for my children.
The breakfast was delicious with many good choices. The environment was calm, quiet, and not noisy at all perfect for relaxing and also very suitable for honeymoon couples.
I highly recommend this place and would definitely come again.
GGuest UserOur stay at the Sagittarius Water Bungalow was absolutely fantastic! From our butler Xiao Gu to all the staff on the water bungalows and even the owners, everyone was incredibly nice. The rooms are equipped with smart Xiaomi home devices, clean and tidy. Opening the curtains reveals the beautiful 'jellyfish sea,' and the scenery is simply captivating. The food at the water bungalows is also delicious; breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are all included in the price. Airport transfers and boat rides to the island are also covered, making it excellent value for money! We stayed for five days and four nights and didn't want to leave. The atmosphere on the island is also great, with KTV and song requests every night – the owner and his wife sing really well, by the way! The water bungalows offer a lot of entertainment, including sea fishing, snorkeling, glass-bottom boat tours, and drone photography. The local staff (Xiao Hei) are also happy to help with photos 📸. You can even get your diving certification and go on island-hopping day trips, keeping you thoroughly entertained. We came to Semporna specifically to get our diving certification, and the water bungalow's own dive shop is highly recommended. The instructors are very responsible and dedicated. I'd like to thank Xiao Li and Instructor Mohd Rizal Baba Selleh. The prices are fair, and the teaching focuses on the safety and skills of the students, which is very reassuring. The dive shop owner's wife is also super nice. All in all, this trip was incredibly worthwhile, and we'll definitely be back! I'll also be recommending it to my friends and family 😊

AAnonymous UserThis resort on the island is absolutely beautiful, it's just a shame the weather wasn't great during the National Day holiday. We didn't see many small fish while snorkeling, but paddleboarding was free, and the toiletries smelled lovely. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was delicious too! 😋
