The hotel is well maintained and the reception was very helpful with our situation due to flight cancellation. Especially Silvester from the restaurant, he was very kind to accommodate our needs.
We had a pleasant experience and would like to stay again next time.
Highly recommended! It's a suite design with a kitchen that not only has a stove but also a microwave and oven, and all the basic cooking utensils are provided. Both the living room and bathroom offer lake views, which is incredibly pleasant. The TV supports screen casting, and the bathroom facilities are quite modern. There's even a very small balcony, big enough for two people to stand on. I got a great deal when I booked, but normally it's about 1300-1400 RMB per night. It's a fantastic option if you don't fancy the local food and want to cook your own meals.
great location being a 7 to 10 minutes drive away from the hustle and bustle of the queenstown town center
very convenient to head to the airport, towards te anau or north towards arrowtown / cromwelll / wanaka without getting stuck in the morning traffic
clean and modern room with decent amenities provided
This is the most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in on a trip, though I guess I haven't really stayed in many fancy places, haha. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and gave excellent tips. The bellboy delivered our luggage right to the door, which was a nice touch. You have to take a boat to get to town; it costs $10 per trip with a card, which is a bit pricey, but it was a unique way to travel. Because it's a bit far from the town center, it's very quiet at night with minimal light pollution. You can step outside and see the stars, and the pool is great. The room itself was fantastic, though the lighting was a little dim. The bathroom was spacious.
Booked 4nights, disappointed with my room is face directly onto the parking lot. My room was on the ground floor, right in front of the cars, which meant i had to keep the curtains closed the entire time, couldn’t see the beautiful mountain at all. Lovely fine dining room with stunning views, had breakfast there.
The location is a bit away from central town, so it’s better you have a rental car to stay here(free parking offered ).
Overall, it’s quite standard hotel.
The front desk and staff were very polite. We arrived at the hotel at 12:30 PM after a layover from Auckland. Check-in time was 2 PM, but they gave us a room early. However, it was in the old building (I don't think it mentioned new/old rooms when booking), and the facilities were very dated. We later paid an extra NZD 40 to upgrade to a newly renovated room, which was instantly much more comfortable. The room wasn't huge, but the twin room was enough for a family of three. The hotel garden is beautiful, and from the balcony, you can see the lake and the lakeside promenade. The view is unbeatable, and the location is superb.
We were thrilled to be the very first guests to leave a review for this stunning new resort! The location is fantastic, just a quick 10-minute drive to town, and our room offered breathtaking views of the Shot River, creating a truly relaxing atmosphere.
We arrived around 10 PM, and the hotel reception was impeccably prepared, warmly welcoming us and even upgrading our room! It looked exactly like the photos, with a design and interior that perfectly captured the vibe we were seeking. They had welcome drinks waiting for us, and we appreciated that milk was available on request at any time.
The breakfast was a delightful a la carte experience, featuring an array of delicious options. The serving staff was not only attentive and kind but also provided excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants!
We also indulged in room service, which exceeded our expectations in both taste and punctuality. Although the fitness room and movie room were still under construction, the small maintenance issue we encountered in the bathroom was addressed swiftly by the staff.
Our stay has left us eager to return and see the final results of this new gem. I highly recommend this resort to everyone!
It was beyond my expectation. It was so beautiful. It faced the huge lake in Queenstown. The facilities were very good, including dishwasher, washing machine, bathroom, bedding, and the view. Most importantly, the price was much better than those hotels with direct beach access.
I have been eyeing this resort for a long time and finally had the chance to visit. A resort of about 3,000 acres, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, with pleasant scenery and Japanese and Western-style architecture. There are large golf courses, which are worth visiting if you want to relax. It would be great if there is Chinese food service.
We chose this hotel because we expected to enjoy its winery/food. Otherwise, we should have stayed in Queenstown with a lot of restaurants and pubs.
As we would arrive in the early evening, we put a note for our hope for experiencing their winery and food (or at least finger foods) when we booked the hotel, and received email that they cannot guarantee but will do their best to serve our need. Since then, no email was sent to us. When we arrived at the hotel around 6 pm, no one was in the information desk, so we had to go to the bistro to find out that they left the key in a safe box without any notice or sending us any email with its password. We had to wait a while for the bistro lady to make a phone call to whom it concerns, which was okay. Worse, we heard that their bistro was reserved for a group event so we could not use the facility at all. We had to drive 15 minutes to a nearby town and bought foods from a supermarket. I think the hotel should have notified us of impossibility of using their bistro/food service due to the group event and we have to prepare for our food. As I checked out, I left a note about the issues, and expected they would send me an email to express their sincere apology. Unfortunately nothing happened so far. Although I liked the room as well as the whole place very much, I think Kinross cottage needs professionalism to run their stay program. It could have been much nicer, memorable stay experience.

SSafiyoooI had a truly wonderful stay at this retreat. The place itself is absolutely spectacular — very calming, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking views. The deck is stunning, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
The owners were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and looked after throughout my stay. Their hospitality genuinely stood out. The dogs were lovely and added so much warmth to the experience. Breakfast was excellent, and the variety of teas available was out of this world.
As a female solo traveller, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and well cared for, which is something I value highly. The atmosphere is peaceful and nurturing — exactly what you want from a retreat.
The only minor downside is that it’s a bit far from the shops (around a one-hour walk). However, this was easily managed as Uber is only a 6-minute drive, and the hosts were also kind enough to offer lifts when possible.
Overall, an absolutely stunning place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay

GGuest UserWe enjoyed our stay at Hurleys and the ability to utilise a laundry was very convenient. The view of the chairlift was OK but would have preferred water views. When we came here last time, with our family, we were on one of the front upstairs rooms (two levels) and had views to the Lake. I think that Hurleys is gradually being built out which is a shame.
