Kaleici Old Town

7.2
4.9/5
118 reviews
Kaleici Old Town is located in the city center of Antalya and has a history of over 2,000 years. It has been ruled by various civilizations, including Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, the Byzantine Empire, the Seljuk Empire, and the Ottoman Empire, with its street layout and architectural style bearing the marks of these different civilizations. Hadrian's Gate is the iconic entrance to Kaleici Old Town, built to commemorate the visit of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The three marble arches are flanked by towers, and the cobblestone pavement beneath the gate still clearly shows the ruts and hoof prints from ancient times. After passing through the gate, Ottoman-style stone houses with red roofs and white walls are scattered along the slopes, and narrow alleys wind upwards, with mosque domes and minarets visible from time to time. The Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque in the district, built in the 17th century, features typical Ottoman architectural style; the clock tower with a pentagonal base stands on the ancient city walls, with its foundation dating back to the Byzantine period and the upper clock tower added later, making it one of the striking landmarks of Kaleici Old Town today. The Old Roman Harbor is located at the southern end of the district and was once an important maritime transport hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. Today, it is docked with yachts and fishing boats, and the azure harbor water and layers of red roofs form a classic scene of Antalya. The alleys in the northern part of the old town are perfect for a quiet stroll, where you can see old houses covered in vines and scattered craft shops along the way. Restaurants and cafes are densely distributed along the main street, where you can taste local flavors such as Mediterranean grilled fish, or browse shops for handicrafts like carpets and ceramics.Antalya · 208m from downtown

Hadrian's Gate

4.5/5
102 reviews
Hadrian's Gate is the main gate of the ancient city of Kaleici, the old town of Antalya, built to commemorate the visit of the Roman Emperor Hadrian around 130 AD, and was later incorporated into the wall system surrounding the ancient city and the harbor, becoming a gate that still remains on the ancient city walls today. The entire gate structure is built of white marble with granite columns. Of the three arches, the middle one is slightly higher and wider. The arches and lintels are decorated with floral and rosette reliefs, and the cornice is adorned with lion-head carvings. The towers on both sides date from different periods: the south tower dates back to the Roman period, while the lower level of the north tower is a Roman structure, and the upper level was rebuilt during the 13th-century era of the Seljuk Sultan Kayqubad I, with traces of several eras converging under the same gate.Antalya · 289m from downtown

Roman Harbour

4.7/5
46 reviews
Roman Harbour is tucked away at the foot of the cliffs in Kaleici, the old town of Antalya, and is an ancient harbour that has been in use since the city was founded in the 2nd century BC. For over 2,000 years, it served as an important shelter and trading port on Mediterranean shipping routes. After merchant ships shifted to the newly built modern port outside the city, it ceased its cargo functions and was renovated in the 1980s to become the yacht and sightseeing boat marina filled with masts that it is today. The harbour is surrounded by walls and fortifications from the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods, with layers of old red-tiled houses on the cliffs above, making the entire bay resemble an open-air theater facing the sea.Antalya · 244m from downtown

Lower Duden Waterfalls

5.8
5.0/5
35 reviews
Lower Duden Waterfalls is located in Antalya, Türkiye. The Duden River flows through the city, leaving behind two waterfalls with distinct styles: the upper and lower sections. The Upper Duden Waterfalls are hidden in a forest park on the northeast side of the city. With dense pine shade, the river cascades down in layers within the park, and the lawns under the trees are a popular spot for locals to picnic and take walks. A famous experience here is behind the waterfall: a natural cave runs behind the water curtain. Visitors can walk into the cave and look out at the greenery through the cascading water, with mist hitting their faces, as if they were in a "water curtain cave." The Lower Duden Waterfalls offer a different scene. Located on the coastal cliffs in the Lara area, the river falls directly from the cliff edge, which is dozens of m high, into the Mediterranean Sea, creating a scene where the waterfall flows into the sea. The clifftop park has several viewing platforms where you can take photos overlooking the spot where the waterfall meets the blue sea. On sunny days, rainbows often appear between the mist and the waves. Sightseeing boats departing from Antalya harbor can sail to the front of the waterfall, allowing you to look up at the water crashing into the sea and the mist it kicks up. The scenery is especially moving at sunset.Antalya · 7.8 km from downtown

32 reviews
The ancient city of Pergai is located about 18 kilometers northeast of Antalya City. It was built in the 10th century BC and is a relatively well-preserved ancient city in Antalya Province. In the 2nd century BC, because this place was inland, protected from pirates, and irrigated by the Ax River, which led directly to the Mediterranean Sea, it flourished for a time and was an important city in Pamphylia (today's Mediterranean region) in Asia Minor. In 1946, the ancient city of Perge was discovered and archaeological excavations began. The Axe River used to be an important trade channel in Pergai, and its watershed is also a tourist hotspot with many historical sites. Pergay is hot and humid all year round, especially in summer. Tourists stroll through the monuments and often see lizards in the grass. It is a veritable outdoor adventure destination.Antalya · 15.4 km from downtown

The clock tower standing at the entrance of the old city of Antalya is a symbol of the center of Antalya and an important landmark for tourists to judge their orientation. Although the fortress-shaped clock tower is not tall enough, the well-defined edges and corners are full of obvious Islamic style and classical beauty. Taking the clock tower as the origin, visitors can start from here to enjoy the concentrated mosques, Hadrian's Gate and the ancient city wall and other buildings here, and take a photo of the visit under the clock tower, which is also a reserved program for visiting Antalya. .Antalya · 303m from downtown
Phaselis Archaeological Site

Phaselis Archaeological Site

4.3
In the picturesque Kemer district of Antalya, lies an ancient city steeped in rich history—Phaselis Archaeological Site. Once a thriving Roman port, it is also an ideal place to enjoy the sun and waves. Historical footprints: The city's history dates back to the 7th century BC. It was an ancient Lycian city located on the shores of the charming Phaselis Bay. Here, you can see the ruins of a theater, three agoras, a magnificent aqueduct, and two bathhouses, and experience the civilization and wisdom they embody. To protect and preserve this precious historical heritage, excavation, restoration, and maintenance work are carried out at the ancient city every year. In 2024, an altar building believed to be dedicated to Apollo was unearthed here, along with male and lion statues and small votive figurines dating back to the 7th–6th centuries BC, marking an extremely rare archaeological discovery. Coastal charm: In summer, the Phaselis Archaeological Site is also a natural gem. Many cruise ships and yachts anchor in the bay next to the site. Ship motifs decorate the city's ports and agoras, inviting you to set sail and fully enjoy the comfort and relaxation brought by the cool seawater. As the sun sets, casting a golden glow over the mottled stone pillars and the deep blue sea, the Phaselis Archaeological Site seems to shine with its former glory once again.Kemer · 42.2 km from Antalya

The vicissitudes and desolation of Hadrian's Gate make people see the city's rich history. Hadrian's Gate is right on the edge of the old city. The pillars seem to have been built later, and the color is different from the surrounding doorways, but the ancient gate has now merged with the old city.

What a beautiful city, with a different kind of tranquility, perhaps because of the history that has settled here. In fact, I don’t know much about the history of Rome, and I don’t understand some of the monuments, but I simply like the atmosphere here.

I don't know which illiterate person translated Perge as "佩尔盖"! Fucks, Turks don't understand, Europeans don't understand! A 3500-year-old ancient site, an authentic ruin! The entire city-state is incredibly well-organized! The main city's residential area, the adjacent sports field, and the amphitheater further away—each has its function, with towering round stone columns and archways! Exquisite stone carvings and murals, simply perfect! Absolutely stunning from a geometric and aesthetic perspective! The indentations in the stone slabs on the ground show signs of long-term activity! By the way, I also picked a bunch of cactus fruits nearby 😀

Kaleici Castle is located on a hill by the sea in Antalya, Turkey. From the beach, you can see the winding walls and castle on the hill in the distance. Climb to the top of the hill and look down through the walls. The buildings in the city stretch along the coast. There are abandoned Byzantine churches and castles on the hill.

The clock tower standing on the ancient city wall of the old town is a landmark of Antalya. There used to be 80 towers surrounding the old city. Today, only one clock tower remains of the spectacular scene. The clock tower, built of stones, constitutes a unique landscape of the city and has always reminded the world of its rich history. The clock tower is decorated with flags and ancient inscriptions and a clock. As soon as you arrive at the clock tower, notice the huge contrast between the historic buildings, modern hotel complexes and restaurants. The clock tower marks the entrance to the old town. The city wall where it is located once protected the city. Stay away from the hustle and bustle of modern buildings and embrace the traditional atmosphere. The clock tower is surrounded by trees and shrubs, creating a peaceful atmosphere for resting passers-by. Look up at the clock tower and its clock and flag. The characteristics of this clock tower are well known, so it has long been a gathering point for locals and tourists~
