Kaş

Kaş is nestled along the Lycian coast of the Mediterranean in Türkiye, built upon the ruins of the ancient city of Antiphellos. It is a harbor town that blends Greek charm with remnants of Lycian civilization. Before the population exchange between Greece and Türkiye in 1923, a large number of Greek residents lived here, and the old town still retains the blue-and-white stone houses and cobblestone alleys they left behind. The town is a renowned diving destination in Türkiye, with shipwreck sites and aircraft wreckage scattered along the coast—including a well-preserved Dakota DC-3 transport plane wreck that you can enter and explore, as well as underwater canyons, reefs, and steep rock walls. The underwater visibility is excellent, and while diving, you may occasionally spot groupers, octopuses, and sea turtles. Beyond diving, taking a boat trip is a signature experience here; you can gaze at the semi-submerged ruins of the Sunken City of Kekova along the coastline, or take a short ferry ride for a day trip to the Greek island of Kastellorizo, which is just across the water. Several Lycian rock tombs and sarcophagi are scattered throughout the town and on the hillsides, with a 4th-century BC lion-shaped sarcophagus being particularly striking. The town also preserves an ancient open-air theater, where you can sit on the stone steps and look out over the azure sea. The old town is compact, making it easy to explore the main attractions on foot. The streets are lined with shops selling handicrafts and Mediterranean snacks, perfect for slowing down and soaking in the atmosphere.Türkiye · Kas

Aegean Coast

Aegean Coast is a waterfront promenade stretching along the Gulf of Izmir, centered on the Kordon boulevard from Alsancak to Konak. This wide seaside walkway hugs the blue bay on one side, with open lawns and rows of palm trees on the other, dotted with open-air cafes and snack carts, making it a place for locals to take daily walks, fish, and relax. The promenade is most charming around sunset, when local young people like to buy drinks and sit in groups on the lawn or on benches facing the sea to watch the sun sink into the water. During the day, it is mostly residents taking walks and fishermen casting their lines along the shore, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The walkway passes several ferry terminals along the way, where you can take a boat across the bay to the other side and look back at the entire coastline from the sea for a unique view. A short walk from the southern end of the promenade leads to Konak Square, where the Clock Tower of İzmir, a city landmark, stands. The nearby Kemeralti Market is a historic traditional market in Izmir, with cobblestone alleys filled with spices, dried fruits, ceramics, and teahouses—definitely worth a visit after strolling along the promenade.Türkiye · Izmir

Kaleici Old Town

7.2
4.9/5
118 reviews
Kaleici Old Town is located in the city center of Antalya and has a history of over 2,000 years. It has been ruled by various civilizations, including Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, the Byzantine Empire, the Seljuk Empire, and the Ottoman Empire, with its street layout and architectural style bearing the marks of these different civilizations. Hadrian's Gate is the iconic entrance to Kaleici Old Town, built to commemorate the visit of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The three marble arches are flanked by towers, and the cobblestone pavement beneath the gate still clearly shows the ruts and hoof prints from ancient times. After passing through the gate, Ottoman-style stone houses with red roofs and white walls are scattered along the slopes, and narrow alleys wind upwards, with mosque domes and minarets visible from time to time. The Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque in the district, built in the 17th century, features typical Ottoman architectural style; the clock tower with a pentagonal base stands on the ancient city walls, with its foundation dating back to the Byzantine period and the upper clock tower added later, making it one of the striking landmarks of Kaleici Old Town today. The Old Roman Harbor is located at the southern end of the district and was once an important maritime transport hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. Today, it is docked with yachts and fishing boats, and the azure harbor water and layers of red roofs form a classic scene of Antalya. The alleys in the northern part of the old town are perfect for a quiet stroll, where you can see old houses covered in vines and scattered craft shops along the way. Restaurants and cafes are densely distributed along the main street, where you can taste local flavors such as Mediterranean grilled fish, or browse shops for handicrafts like carpets and ceramics.Türkiye · Antalya

Turkey's Dead Sea is located in Oludeniz, south of Fethiye. Although the place name is chilling, it has a soft sandy beach that is enough to enjoy the style of the Mediterranean coast. Changing rooms, shower rooms, and open-air bars are also available. Typical of Turkish European beaches. A big turn of the Mediterranean Sea on Turkey's long and tortuous southwestern coastline has created the huge Turkish Dead Sea. The entire coast is surrounded by mountains, forming a calm and waveless lagoon. Because the water here is calm and the reflection in the water is almost still, it is named "Dead Sea". This is a natural beach in southwestern Turkey, you can swim, but the beach is pebbled, so it is recommended to wear beach shoes. In addition, paragliding is also a popular sport here. When you fly into the air, you will experience peace and tranquility. The feeling of integration with the blue sky, blue sea, green mountains and white sand is very wonderful.Türkiye · Fethiye

Oludeniz Beach is located in Fethiye on the southwest coast of Türkiye. The name "Dead Sea" is translated from the Turkish "Ölüdeniz," referring to the bay's year-round calm waters—even when the open sea is rough, the water enclosed by the sandbar remains as calm as a mirror, and it has no relation to the high-salinity Dead Sea in the Middle East. A curved sandbar separates the open sea from the Blue Lagoon on the inside: the outer beach faces the open sea, while the inner lagoon is shallow and clear, transitioning from turquoise to sapphire blue, with pine-covered hillsides all around, creating a picture-perfect scene of blue, white, and green.Türkiye · Fethiye

Sirince is nestled in the mountains near Selcuk, Türkiye, and its name means "pleasant" in Turkish. Legend has it that this mountain village was founded by residents of Ephesus Ancient City who moved into the mountains. For centuries, it remained a settlement for ethnic Greeks. In the early 20th century, when the Greeks migrated to Greece, the subsequent immigrants preserved the original layout of the houses, allowing the Greek-style white-walled, blue-windowed homes to remain intact to this day. The village still features two old churches and hundreds of traditional stone houses, with the St. John the Baptist Church still preserving remnants of ancient icon frescoes. Strolling through the back alleys, you will see Greek-style white walls and blue windows lining the smooth, worn cobblestone streets. The old doors, windows, and colorful stone walls are full of the traces of time, with every household planting flowers in front of their doors and Turkish blue evil eye amulets hanging everywhere. The town is famous for its homemade fruit wines, including apricot, mulberry, blueberry, and melon flavors. The Church of St. Demetrios, located on the hillside, offers a wide view, and you can overlook the village and the olive groves below from in front of the church.Türkiye · Sirince

Hadrian's Gate

4.5/5
102 reviews
Hadrian's Gate is the main gate of the ancient city of Kaleici, the old town of Antalya, built to commemorate the visit of the Roman Emperor Hadrian around 130 AD, and was later incorporated into the wall system surrounding the ancient city and the harbor, becoming a gate that still remains on the ancient city walls today. The entire gate structure is built of white marble with granite columns. Of the three arches, the middle one is slightly higher and wider. The arches and lintels are decorated with floral and rosette reliefs, and the cornice is adorned with lion-head carvings. The towers on both sides date from different periods: the south tower dates back to the Roman period, while the lower level of the north tower is a Roman structure, and the upper level was rebuilt during the 13th-century era of the Seljuk Sultan Kayqubad I, with traces of several eras converging under the same gate.Türkiye · Antalya

Roman Harbour

Roman Harbour is tucked away at the foot of the cliffs in Kaleici, the old town of Antalya, and is an ancient harbour that has been in use since the city was founded in the 2nd century BC. For over 2,000 years, it served as an important shelter and trading port on Mediterranean shipping routes. After merchant ships shifted to the newly built modern port outside the city, it ceased its cargo functions and was renovated in the 1980s to become the yacht and sightseeing boat marina filled with masts that it is today. The harbour is surrounded by walls and fortifications from the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods, with layers of old red-tiled houses on the cliffs above, making the entire bay resemble an open-air theater facing the sea.Türkiye · Antalya

Lower Duden Waterfalls

5.0/5
35 reviews
Lower Duden Waterfalls is located in Antalya, Türkiye. The Duden River flows through the city, leaving behind two waterfalls with distinct styles: the upper and lower sections. The Upper Duden Waterfalls are hidden in a forest park on the northeast side of the city. With dense pine shade, the river cascades down in layers within the park, and the lawns under the trees are a popular spot for locals to picnic and take walks. A famous experience here is behind the waterfall: a natural cave runs behind the water curtain. Visitors can walk into the cave and look out at the greenery through the cascading water, with mist hitting their faces, as if they were in a "water curtain cave." The Lower Duden Waterfalls offer a different scene. Located on the coastal cliffs in the Lara area, the river falls directly from the cliff edge, which is dozens of m high, into the Mediterranean Sea, creating a scene where the waterfall flows into the sea. The clifftop park has several viewing platforms where you can take photos overlooking the spot where the waterfall meets the blue sea. On sunny days, rainbows often appear between the mist and the waves. Sightseeing boats departing from Antalya harbor can sail to the front of the waterfall, allowing you to look up at the water crashing into the sea and the mist it kicks up. The scenery is especially moving at sunset.Türkiye · Antalya
The Temple of Artemis

The Temple of Artemis

5.6
3.8/5
70 reviews
The Temple of Artemis was built to worship Artemis, the goddess of the hunt in Greek mythology. In its prime, the temple was built of marble and was even larger than the Parthenon in Athens. According to the ancient Roman scholar Pliny the Elder, the temple was supported by 127 marble columns approx. 18m high, 36 of which had relief carvings on the lower part of the shafts. In 356 BC, Herostratus of Ephesus burned it down in an attempt to make a name for himself. The rebuilt temple was destroyed again by the Goths in 262 AD, after which it gradually disappeared into the silt and the passage of time. In 1869, after years of searching in the marshes, British archaeologist John Turtle Wood found the site, and excavation work continued until 1874, when this former wonder was finally brought to light. Visiting the site today, you can see the remaining foundation in the open depression, as well as a single column reassembled from excavated marble fragments, where storks often nest on top. It is not far from the Ephesus Ancient City and is suitable for a combined visit.Türkiye · Selcuk

Turkey's Dead Sea is located in Oludeniz, south of Fethiye. The Dead Sea in Fethiye is different from the Dead Sea in Israel. It is not the Dead Sea where no life can survive in the water due to high salt content. Instead, in Oludeniz, surrounded by mountains, the long and winding coastline divides the Mediterranean Bay into two. The Mediterranean Sea on the outside is turbulent, but the bay on the inside is calm and quiet, as if frozen, so it is called the Dead Sea.

This is a very beautiful bay, the sea water is blue, like a striking piece of turquoise. The Turks like the color blue very much, and their souvenirs are blue eyes, which are said to ward off evil spirits. Most of the beaches here are for locals to vacation. This beach is said to be a popular beach on the Internet.

The vicissitudes and desolation of Hadrian's Gate make people see the city's rich history. Hadrian's Gate is right on the edge of the old city. The pillars seem to have been built later, and the color is different from the surrounding doorways, but the ancient gate has now merged with the old city.

What a beautiful city, with a different kind of tranquility, perhaps because of the history that has settled here. In fact, I don’t know much about the history of Rome, and I don’t understand some of the monuments, but I simply like the atmosphere here.
