Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, officially named "Liberty Enlightening the World." It was a gift from the people of France to the United States, created to commemorate American independence and completed in 1886. Designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, its internal steel framework was crafted by Gustave Eiffel, the designer of the Eiffel Tower. She holds a torch aloft in her right hand and a tablet inscribed with "July 4, 1776" in her left, with broken chains at her feet. The seven spikes on her crown symbolize the seven continents and seven seas, while the theme of breaking free from*********and embracing liberty is woven into every detail. Reaching the crown is the signature experience here: ascend via the narrow double-helix staircase inside the statue to overlook New York Harbor and the Manhattan skyline from the crown's observation windows. Crown access has limited availability and requires advance reservations. The staircase is steep and narrow with no elevator, so travelers with acrophobia or limited physical stamina should assess their capabilities. Opting for the pedestal observatory still allows close-up views of the statue and panoramic harbor vistas. The original torch replaced in 1984 is now displayed at the Statue of Liberty Museum on the island, which opened in 2019, fully presenting the statue's construction history and symbolic significance. The adjacent Ellis Island Immigration Museum recounts the stories of millions of immigrants who entered the U.S. here to begin new lives, often combined with a visit to Liberty Island. △Statue of LibertyCrown visit: one of the must-do experiences is climbing up to the statue's crown. Travelers can access the crown via a narrow spiral staircase and enjoy the magnificent views of the city skyline. △: Closely connected, the visit is a fascinating experience. This museum tells the story of millions of immigrants who passed through to start new lives in the United States. △Statue of LibertyPedestal access: Travelers can also enter the pedestal to observe the statue and its intricate details up close. The pedestal also houses a museum showcasing the history and significance of the statue.

Going later in the afternoon allows you to see the sunset from daytime, offering a completely different experience compared to the nighttime view! There are both indoor and outdoor viewing platforms, making for an amazing experience! The video was played in the elevator.

Perhaps because the summer holidays are over, there were no lines. It was very convenient to scan the code to enter. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is very large, so you can stroll around at your own pace. If you get tired, there are places to grab a drink or a snack. The US is a large country, not crowded. Even in very lively areas, there are plenty of places to rest, which is very thoughtful.

I had one of the worst experiences of my life at this place of business! I purchased 4 tickets costing a total of $158 to the Laserdome's Verse Immersive show which lasts an hour and a half. I purchased these tickets as a birthday present for my 8 year old grandson's and my 80 year old disabled mother in law's birthday. I was so excited for them to have this fun unique awesome event experience because my grandson loves science and my mother in law due to her disability doesn't get out much other than doctor's appointments. We drove 1.5 hours to get to Laserdome to enjoy this special event and after the event, have to drive another 1.5 hours back home after the event was over. However, 10 minutes into the immersive event, the headset fell off of my 8 year old grandson's head, when we went to a staff member to have them put the headset back on his head, we were told that they couldn't do that. They told us that if a headset falls off or is taken off ones head, they cannot put it back on that person's head but rather, that person can no longer play the game. There is NOTHING on Laserdome's website putting a customer on notice of about this so called rule, nor did any of the staff members tell us this fact when they were first fitting us with the headset. I tried to explain to the manager on site about how important this event is to my 8 year old grandson and elderly mother in law because it is their special birthday present. Nope, to them, it is the rule period and they were going to do nothing to accomodate or assist us in any way. What made the whole experience even worse was how we were treated by their young inexperienced and immature manager because he never addressed my concerns but rather was argumentative, disrespectful and beligerent toward me, Both manager and owner refused to refund me my money. It truly was the worst experience of my life at any place of business! Now I have to contact my attorney and my bank to try to get a full refund.

We are not “museum people” but we enjoyed our time at Moma! A lot to see and some interesting pieces. Loved the 4th floor!
