Things to do in Laiyuan

Booking online one day in advance offers a 10 yuan discount; you can enter the park directly by scanning a code, which is very convenient. Enter from the East Gate and take the cable car up the mountain. There are three routes to choose from: the upper, middle, and lower routes. Depending on your physical condition, the middle route is the gentlest, following the cliffside walkway along the mountainside. The round trip takes about 3 hours. If there's fog, the mountain peaks appear and disappear, creating a unique charm.

The ancient Geyuan Temple, with a history of over a thousand years, is located on the west side of Guangchang Street in Laiyuan County. Facing south, the temple's preserved central axis buildings include the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Hall of Manjushri, and the Sutra Repository, flanked by a west gate, east and west side halls, and a west meditation room. Supporting cultural relics include a Liao Dynasty iron bell and two sutra pillars. The temple grounds are verdant with ancient pines, and its halls are scattered throughout. The "Geyuan Bell Chime" is one of the twelve ancient scenic wonders of Laiyuan. Geyuan Temple boasts eight unique features: among them, the dougong (bracket sets), window lattices, and murals are known as the "Three Treasures" of the Hall of Manjushri.

Stayed at the Hot Spring Valley Hotel. It had just snowed. The scenery was great. I soaked in the hot springs and drank tea outdoors. It felt great. I also came here to play with friends when I had time.

The snow quality was superb, and very soft. The parking lot was large and free. It's also very close to my accommodation in a nearby county, making it very convenient. The instructors' prices were a bit high. It was 390 yuan per hour on Sundays. Another downside was that people were smoking everywhere in their rest area. Nobody seemed to care. This was the worst part of the trip!

Every step reveals a new scene, a combination of scenery and pools. It's cool in summer, but reaching Longhu Spring is quite treacherous. It took me and one other person, along with a local family, to finally find it! The rest of the way is basically a wild climb.

A visit to the Badaling Great Wall is a must when in Beijing. It's divided into the Southern and Northern sections. Climbing the Great Wall is a truly breathtaking experience, showcasing the magnificent landscape of our motherland. The scenery is beautiful, but there are also many people. It's very convenient to take the high-speed train from Beijing North Station to Badaling Station.

Definitely worth a visit to the Forbidden city to understand the history! Marco was a fantastic guide and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with him. Met other solo travellers as well in the same group and we hanged out afterwards! However, I thought that the guide would also be included for clock museum and treasure museum but it was not. Honestly, you can skip the clock museum as it was not interesting to me since it was displays of the many clocks given from other countries (France, Britain etc). Treasure museum was huge but the explanation were all in Chinese which was not helpful for my english speaking fellow travellers. Overall, worth it for the palace museum and guide tour but recommend to skip the other museums if not of huge interest to you.

There are two hot springs in the Baihualin Hot Spring Valley, both of which are pretty good. This is a photo of the Hot Spring Valley Hotel. There is also artificial snow in the outdoor hot spring pool, which is real snow. Check-in and take photos are very photogenic.

This is the second time I've brought my child here. The venue is large, with many attractions, and the lighting effects are fun and imaginative, which is amazing. My child wants to go again.
