Highlights
The museum houses Michelangelo's original 5.17-meter marble David, the global original David, a benchmark work of Renaissance art
The gallery displays four unfinished marble sculptures of "Prisoners (Slaves)," semi-finished works created for the papal tomb. This is the only place in the world that saves multiple original sculptures by Michelangelo in one collection.
Home to one of the world's largest collections of 13th–15th century gold-ground panel paintings, featuring original works by early Florence masters such as Giotto and Botticelli.
