Our guide, Yoshitani, was very friendly! Unfortunately, it coincided with the "mountain scorching" (wildfire) of Mount Aso, a traditional event held annually in February and March in the Aso region of Kumamoto Prefecture. The aim is to maintain the vast grassland landscape, prevent deforestation, and prepare for new grass growth in spring by burning dry grass. Everything was a dark, smoky black. We'll have to come back another day!â

The meeting point was right by the Starbucks at the east-shiroku exit of Hakata Station, and we departed right on time. Some tourists overslept and didn't even wait. They were very punctual.
The bus was in excellent condition, with plenty of air conditioning. The guide was very welcoming.
Kumamoto Castle and Mount Aso were both great. Despite the heat, Kumamoto Castle was worth visiting; it's air-conditioned and offers a panoramic view from above. There were also many delicious dishes on the first floor. The horse meat fried cakes were delicious, and the limited-edition watermelon soda was very quenching.
Due to Mount Aso's active season, we couldn't get the bus to our nearest viewing location, which was a shame.
The ice cream on the mountain was delicious and worth trying. The set lunch menu was also good, though a bit pricey up there. The air was nice, and walking on the grass was much cooler than at the foot of the mountain.â

It was great that the guide provided not only various explanations but also recommended good restaurants. It was a shame that we couldn't get close to the crater due to a previous accident, but it was an enjoyable tour. The hot springs were modest and small in scale, but the scenery was beautiful and it was relaxing.â

The tour guide this time was very nice. He proactively added me on WeChat a day in advance to provide some helpful information, much more attentive and friendly than the guide from Toekei Company I booked before! đđ He explained that due to an accident, we couldn't go directly to the volcano, but after asking my opinion, we went back to the park in the moonlight instead. On the day of the trip, the guide adjusted the order of the attractions accordingly, first going to Kusasenri for a distant view of Mount Aso, which was very thoughtful. Although the stops at each point were short, everyone on the bus was very punctual. There was a light drizzle when we went to Kurokawa Onsen, which added to the atmosphere. đ This day trip to a remote area of ââKyushu was perfect for me; I really enjoyed it and will definitely book with them again next time. Thank you!â

Amazing 1-day tour covering Aso volcano area, Takachiho Gorge, and Kusasenri grassland. Great value for money!
Alex is the BEST guide! Knowledgeable, fun, and gave great photo spot tips throughout the day.
Note that Aso Volcano crater access depends on safety conditions on the day. We couldn't visit due to this, but the team extended time at other attractions to compensate.
Highly recommend! Just be prepared for long bus rides and that Aso Crater access can vary day by day.â

Despite the fact that the boats were being serviced at Takachico Gorge and the crater was closed due to a helicopter accident, the tour was still great. I was impressed they called me to tell me about the cancellation of the boat trip and offered me a refund for that portion even before my trip started. When they found out the crater was closed, they also communicated it and offered a full refund if I didnât want to take the trip anymore. I think itâs hard to come by companies these days that are so pro-active and handle issues so promptly. Yang Meng our guide was awesome, she contacted us, created a group chat and shared a lot of information about Mount Aso and Takachico Gorge. The Kusasenri area is very worth going to even if the Crater is closed. Takachico was beautiful and got to eat Nagashi somen out of bamboo shoots and water from the gorge. Cool experience. Yang Meng was so organized and told us beforehand how to make the best out of each part of the itinerary Highly recommendîĽ
