Things to do in Erenhot

There is no charge, just drive straight to the roadside. There is a dirt road of about 300 meters past the exit. A car can drive slowly to the big slope 200 meters away from the palm. If you don't have an SUV, don't try to go downhill. You can see the palm of the Buddha from a distance on the slope. If you want to see the whole view, it is best to bring a drone. It is about two kilometers away from the Dinosaur Park.

This is the Dinosaur Museum in Erlianhot, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is a dinosaur-based museum, especially suitable for children to learn about dinosaurs, broaden their horizons, and increase their talents. It is worth visiting.

In mid-October, the Huitengxile Grassland was ablaze with yellow grass, the wind was strong, and tourists were few, lending the landscape a sense of vastness and tranquility. We chartered a car to enter the grassland, our first stop being the Niubaba Scenic Area. Without the hustle and bustle of peak season, the grassland revealed its true nature. Driving along the Windmill Avenue, huge white windmills lined the road, turning slowly in the wind, creating a picturesque scene against the golden grassland. The white yurts stood out against the backdrop of the grassland; the nearby lake was serene, with withered grass swaying on the banks, adding a unique autumnal charm. Along the way, we also saw vast golden pine forests, sunlight filtering through the branches and casting dappled shadows; herds of cattle and sheep grazed peacefully. Though the wind was strong, it couldn't dispel the vastness and serenity. Late autumn in Huitengxile, while lacking the lush green of summer, offered a truly pure grassland experience with its golden hues, open spaces, and free-flowing winds.

The Dahong Mountain in Inner Mongolia is like a red scroll inlaid on the land of northern Xinjiang, a masterpiece of nature. This mountain range, located deep in the vast grassland, is red all over, and is particularly spectacular against the backdrop of blue sky and white clouds. The unique landform is carved by time, with cliffs and folds and gullies coexisting, as if telling the story of geological changes over tens of millions of years. Standing on the top of the mountain and looking into the distance, the majestic grassland and the red mountain are intertwined, and the magnificent scenery is shocking. It is a tourist destination that combines natural wonders with the customs of the frontier.

Wulanchabu Grassland is located in the central part of Inner Mongolia. Summer is the best season to visit. Recommended attractions include Huitengxile Grassland and Gegentala Grassland, where you can ride horses, stay in yurts, and watch the stars. Local delicacies include hand-pulled mutton, milk tea, and roasted whole lamb. Transportation can be self-driving or chartered from Hohhot, the journey takes about 2 hours. Pay attention to sun protection and keep warm, as the temperature difference between morning and evening is large.
