This half day tour is a great and convenient way to visit Hallstat. It is of course more expensive than taking the train or public bus+ferry to get to Hallstat, but it is certainly a time-saver. It's essentially a direct bus trip to Hallstat with a bit of commentary of interesting places that we passed and some history. Once you reached Hallstat, you will go around on your own for about 2.5 hours and the bus will come to pick up at a certain time. The 1.5 hours ride is comfortable and there's a power point at your seat if you need to charge your phone.

The Wachau Valley beautifully reflects the stunning scenery along the Danube River and the cultural history of Austria and even Europe; Melk, though small, is a very distinctive town and should be considered a representative town of Austria.

The trip was wonderful. Our guide, Alexander, was great. He shared a lot of interesting information about Austria while we were driving to Hallstatt. The views of the mountains and the lake in Hallstatt were amazing. My whole family (six members) really enjoyed the trip. We had three hours in Hallstatt, which was enough time to enjoy the place. We walked through the main street and climbed some stairs just to explore the area and enjoy the view from a little higher up. The kids were a bit tired after two hours, so they sat in the shade. Then we found Badeinsel and the playground. I went for a swim in the lake, and afterwards we returned to the bus. The only thing that worried me was the air conditioning. The air was a bit too cold, even though I tried to adjust the vent away from me.
