There's a small exchange room near the Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station; it's a bit hard to find, but the exchange process is smooth. It's with JR East, not Tokai; make sure you get the company right. A round trip to Aomori will break even, and you can then go to smaller towns like Hachinohe and Morioka. You can also ride the JR trains freely throughout Tokyo. It's good value for money.

Buying through Ctrip was very convenient, and the prices were more affordable than other places during promotions. We exchanged our tickets for reserved seats at the airport and then used our 5-day wide-area pass to visit the Honshu region, which we had never been to before. We also rode the adorable panda-themed train – a fantastic experience!

A very convenient and very economical travel card. We had no problems whatsoever. In Japan, we exchanged a QR code for a ticket at a ticket machine. A very friendly woman helped us, explaining where the card is valid and how to use it through the turnstiles. We had absolutely no problems getting help on public transport or anywhere else in Japan. Everyone was incredibly polite! The travel card saved us a ton of money over the course of our days!

I highly recommend everyone try this JR Pass, as it is extremely convenient and worth it, especially for solo travellers. It can help you save a lot on transportation costs. However, make sure to check your itinerary carefully, as this JR Pass does not cover every attraction or area, and some places may require local trains instead.

This place is cheaper than other travel agencies. They scan your passport when you pick it up. Also, although it's only a 2,000 won difference, I recommend buying via QR code. If you lose it like I did, that's it. You can't get it reissued or repurchase it.

For a trip to Hokuriku, this ticket price is well worth it. I only used it for 2.5 days and it was worth the price. The only problem is that going to Takaoka is frustrating. You have to go back to Shin-Takaoka Station and transfer to another train to use it. Also, you can't use the local trains. But it's very convenient for the Shinkansen between cities.
