Reviews: One-Day Tour of Zhangye Danxia Rainbow Mountains & Mati Temple (Explore Geological Wonders, Discover Millennia-Old Buddhist Grottoes)

The tour was well organized. Everything was on time; the company sent the WeChat number of the employee who was coming to pick us up the day before. We stayed in touch. This employee bought the entrance tickets. The rest: the road from Zhangye to Matisi takes almost an hour or more. There are sections that are like a washboard. We sat in the back seat—it was so bumpy you could injure your cervical vertebrae. The scenery outside the window along the entire journey from the city to Matisi is uninteresting. Inside the temple itself: huge spaces, windy, cold. And this was May 18th. Uncomfortable. The grottoes at the second stop, where the observation deck with the white stupa is, are under restoration. And cold. Unfortunately, we couldn't go to the second site, the colored mountains. We should have taken a tour only to the colored mountains, and that's it. Getting to Zhangye is difficult, time-consuming, and expensive. There are few foreigners—almost no one. You should go while you're young and healthy. Thank you.
