Abisko National Park is located in northern Sweden and covers an area of 77 sq km. Established in 1909, it is one of Sweden's first national parks, created with the original intention of "preserving an area in the northern Nordic region in its original state for scientific research," and the Abisko Scientific Research Station is also located here. The park is situated on the southern shore of Lake Torneträsk and is famous for its excellent aurora viewing conditions—the unique microclimate of the surrounding valleys keeps the area clear more frequently than the surrounding regions, making it renowned as one of the best places for aurora viewing in Northern Europe. The famous "Kungsleden" (King's Trail) hiking route passes through the park, which also features the typical U-shaped valley "Lapporten," lakes, and Lapland wilderness scenery, serving as an important window for experiencing the natural beauty of Sweden's far north.Kiruna Municipality · 74.8 km from downtown

Camp Alta Kiruna

Camp Alta Kiruna

2.9
Campalta AB is located on the shore of Lake Alta in Sweden, adjacent to the original coniferous forest belt of the Arctic Circle, forming an ecological interface where lake light and forest shadows interweave. As an important node for Arctic tourism, the camp connects lake and forest resources through a forest trail system. The lake ice in winter and the midnight sun in summer form a dual landscape base. The tent platforms are scattered along the lakeshore and are equipped with windproof and heat-insulating facilities. Winter operations focus on the snow-covered activity system, maintaining snowmobile routes, traditional dog sled loops and multi-gradient cross-country skiing trails. A sauna is set up on the edge of the coniferous forest, and the heating system cooperates with the snow cooling pool to form a hot and cold cycle experience. During the aurora observation season, hot drink supply stations and cold-proof equipment rentals are provided, and a night aurora photography guidance area is opened in the forest clearing. The lake cruise project is open during the non-freezing period, and tundra plant recognition hiking is organized during the daytime. Relying on the special geographical coordinates of the Arctic Circle, the camp has built a multi-dimensional natural experience space connecting aquatic ecology, boreal forests and polar climates.Kiruna Municipality · 44.3 km from downtown

Kiruna Church is an iconic building in Kiruna Municipality, northern Sweden. Completed in 1912, it is known for its Neo-Gothic all-wood structure and is one of the most representative wooden churches in northern Sweden. The building blends traditional Nordic style with elements of the British Arts and Crafts movement. Constructed from deep red wood, its unique roof and tower design make it look like a fairytale building amidst the snow-covered polar landscape. In 2001, it was voted one of Sweden's most beautiful buildings. Due to ground subsidence caused by long-term mining at the Kiruna iron mine, the entire city is undergoing a historic relocation. The church itself has been moved in its entirety to a new site, a rare case of large-scale architectural preservation that adds extra historical significance to the church.Kiruna · 2.8 km from downtown

I was lucky enough to get a level 5 when I watched the aurora in Abisko. [Cost-effectiveness] Not cheap, but worth it. [Fun] Beautiful, you can only feel the fun by experiencing it in person. [Scenery] Even if there is no aurora, it is still beautiful here.

We took the cable car up the mountain at night, and the staff took us around and explained the scenery. Finally, we saw the aurora at midnight. It is recommended to wear warm and windproof clothes.
