Monument to the Battle of the Nations
Monument to the Battle of the Nations commemorates the Battle of Leipzig, which took place south of Leipzig from October 16–19, 1813, to resist Napoleon's invasion of Germany. The monument is 91m high and is currently one of the largest existing monuments in Europe. The monument is 91m high and has 500 steps. The front of the monument features a 10m-high heroic relief, and the top is crowned by four giant warriors standing with swords. Mendelssohn Haus
The composer Felix · Mendelssohn once lived here. The Delsson family moved into the late Biedermeier-style home in 1845, and Mendelssohn died here in 1847. Mendelssohn's residences in Leipzig and elsewhere in Germany are now gone, and this is a preserved building where Mendelssohn once lived. Entering from the first-floor gate of the monument, you will first see an inner room with a dome. Warriors are divided into two layers, standing with long shields. The semicircular dome is covered with countless reliefs of soldiers on horseback. From the top, you can have a panoramic view of the city of Leipzig.
