Dayun Temple in Linfen, Shanxi Province, also known as Iron Buddha Temple, is an ancient Buddhist temple with a rich history. The temple faces west and east, divided into two courtyards, front and back. Along its central axis are the mountain gate, the Heavenly King Hall, the Main Hall, the Golden-Topped Pagoda, and the Sutra Library. The Golden-Topped Pagoda is the centerpiece of the temple. It has six stories, the first five being square and the sixth an octagonal. Arranged according to the eight trigrams, it stands approximately 30 meters tall and is constructed of water-polished blue bricks. Twenty-eight iron peaks tinkle in the breeze at the four corners of the pagoda. Each floor features 64 glazed panels depicting Buddhist legends, crafted by artisans from Yangcheng County. The cave dwellings in Shijiayuan were built in the 34th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1769). At that time, during the heyday of Emperor Qianlong, Shijia's family combined farming and business, and also operated banks and pawnshops, earning a lot of money. So they used the money to buy land, expand their family business, and build houses. It took them nearly 200 years to build a luxurious courtyard covering a large area. Its architectural style has typical northern and Shanxi residential features, and is divided into two parts: the main building and the ancillary buildings. The Shijia Courtyard has a total of 31 courtyards of various sizes, with quadrangle courtyards, two-entry quadrangle courtyards, second-floor quadrangle courtyards, and third-floor quadrangle courtyards as the main buildings, which are equipped with main rooms, living rooms, side rooms, halls, study rooms, embroidery towers, moon-viewing rooms, gatehouses, and stables for servants and other rooms. The most valuable art in Shijia Courtyard is the architectural sculpture art. Its wood carvings, stone carvings, and brick carvings are used to decorate the brackets, brackets, hangings, beams, screen walls, column bases, plaques, curtain frames, door covers, etc., with various styles and rich contents. For the character "Shou", there are as many as 108 different window lattice patterns. There are also many door plaques, plaques, and wood plaques, which are rare calligraphy works.Fenxi · 5.2 km from downtown

The Longdong Cave, an important tourist attraction within the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area, is situated on a cliff overlooking the Yellow River. Deep and mysterious, the cave offers a prime vantage point for appreciating the "smoke rising from the bottom of the pot" phenomenon. Adjacent to the waterfall, the Longdong Cave often echoes the surging waves of the Yellow River, creating a magnificent natural panorama. From the Longdong Cave, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the Hukou Waterfall, where the rushing water and surging waves resemble a giant dragon cascading down, showcasing the immense power of nature. Especially during the summer and autumn seasons, when the Yellow River's water volume is relatively high, the waterfall's grandeur is particularly striking. Under the sunlight, the water splashes and rainbows arch. At this time, the waterfall's rapid flow and powerful impact create enormous spray and air currents, making the Longdong Cave one of the ideal places to view the Hukou Waterfall.Ji County · 21.5 km from downtown

The Stone Tablet Pavilion is located in Hongtong County, Linfen, Shanxi. It is a cultural scenic area built around the history of the Hongtong Great Locust Tree migration during the Ming Dynasty. The core relics and commemorative buildings of the scenic area revolve around the Great Locust Tree. Although the existing Great Locust Tree was replanted by later generations, it remains a carrier of the memory of the migration history. The scenic area also features an Ancestral Worship Hall, where memorial tablets of the migrants' surnames are enshrined for descendants of migrants from home and abroad to come and trace their roots and pay respects. The murals and text panels inside the hall provide detailed introductions to the migration routes and their influence on later generations. In addition to the core memorial area, the scenic area also recreates historical migration scenes through scene restoration, such as the Guangji Temple ruins exhibition area, which simulates the registration and departure of migrants during the Ming Dynasty. Overall, the Stone Tablet Pavilion centers on migration history, integrating commemoration, root-tracing, and cultural exhibition functions. It has become an important place for connecting the emotions of migrant descendants at home and abroad and inheriting ancestral culture, making it suitable for visitors interested in history and root-tracing culture.Hongtong · 1.8 km from downtown

Many people drive long distances to Xixian County to see Xiaoxitian (Little Western Paradise) and then sneak away. However, there are several other scenic spots worth visiting along the road from Linfen to Xixian County, one of which is Dongyue Temple. Located high in the mountains, it beautifully showcases Dongyue culture.

Some attractions will never regain their former tranquility. For example, there is a group of ancient buildings that used to be so quiet and not open to the public. Now that it is open, there are always all kinds of crowds. Some people say that the gate has been blocked off and that an entrance fee may be charged in the future.

The museum is located in a park. The parking lot is near the park, but there are many cars and few spaces. We parked quite far away. The museum's entrance, plaza, and staircase are all rather extravagant, requiring a long walk. After going up to the second floor and entering the main gate, exhibition halls 1 and 2 are on the first floor, so you have to go back downstairs. The exhibits are worth seeing, but the layout is inconvenient and should be improved.

Dayun Temple is no longer a temple and has no monks. It is a national cultural relic protection unit. Admission is free. There are paper-cutting and calligraphy and painting exhibitions in the side halls on both sides of the entrance. The most amazing things are the iron Buddha head and glazed pagoda from the Tang Dynasty, which are truly rare treasures.

Tickets are issued quickly, but the stairs inside the cave are very narrow. The view of the Yellow River waterfall from the cave entrance is breathtaking, but you need to wear a raincoat because water is dripping everywhere.

Taking advantage of the good weather, I brought my family to the Hongtong Big Pagoda Tree. We visited to trace our roots and pay respects to our ancestors. We hired a guide to explain why we migrated there and learned about our surname culture. It was a worthwhile trip, and I highly recommend it!

Walking on the stone steps of the ancient ferry town, listening to the sound of the Yellow River, the lights seem to travel through time and space, making people feel like they have returned to the past. The ferry inn is a pleasant surprise. The impression of ordinary inns and homestays is always hard to describe. I chose the ferry inn because the online rating is quite high and the price is suitable. It costs more than 1,000 yuan to stay in a pit room in Pingyao for one night, and the cheapest one costs 700 or 800☺. So I booked a big pit room without hesitation. 😃😃😃. Very satisfied: the hygiene is the cleanest homestay I have ever stayed in, the pit is the most comfortable, and the room design and layout is the best👍👍👍. Of course, the feeling of tranquility, comfort, close to nature, and the fragrance of birds and flowers makes people indulge in it and unforgettable. In short, it was a very good trip!!!

The scenery is average. The attraction actually consists of two parts: the Mausoleum of Emperor Yao and the National Ancestral Hall. Both attractions have their own parking lots. The National Ancestral Hall is currently open to the 1st to 4th floors. The 1st floor has the origin of the surname, and the 4th floor is the statue of Emperor Yao. The Mausoleum of Emperor Yao has stone tablets and earth mounds. 1-2 hours is enough for the entire attraction (two parts). The scenery is average, mainly to feel the ancestors.
