Everglades National Park

6.9
4.4/5
145 reviews
Everglades National Park is located at the southern tip of Florida and covers approx. 1.5 million acres. It is one of the largest national parks in the contiguous United States, second only to Death Valley and Yellowstone. The entire wetland is often described as a slowly flowing "River of Grass"—freshwater flows slowly from the interior toward the sea, sawgrass stretches like an ocean, and mangroves and bays converge at the southern end of the park, creating a rare subtropical wilderness view. This wetland is also a paradise for wildlife: American alligators float on the water, manatees swim slowly in the warm waterways, and the elusive Florida panther can be found here. Water birds such as roseate spoonbills and wood storks make this a famous bird-watching destination in North America. There are many trails and tour routes to choose from in the park: the Anhinga Trail features a boardwalk elevated above the water and is a classic spot for observing alligators and water birds up close; Shark Valley Visitor Center is a loop route that goes deep into the heart of the River of Grass, which can be explored by bike or tram, and the observation tower at the end offers a panoramic view of the wetlands; head south along the main road to reach the Flamingo area, where you can take a boat into the mangrove waterways; theTen Thousand Islands areaon the west side is crisscrossed with waterways and is suitable for boat tours. The park is very large, and the entrances are scattered and not connected to each other. During the dry season, the water level drops, and animals concentrate near the ponds, making them easier to observe. There are campgrounds in the park for visitors who want an in-depth experience.Monroe County · >100 km from downtown

Key West

Key West is also known asthe westernmost key, sitting among the thousands of islands and reefs of the Florida Keys at the far southwest end of the archipelago. It is a tropical coral island and the southernmost city in the continental United States, facing Cuba across the sea, and is often called the United States' land's end. U.S. Highway 1 extends out over the water via dozens of bridges, linking the Keys to mainland Florida. One stretch, the Seven Mile Bridge, spans open sea with blue water on both sides, and the drive across it is often a highlight of the trip. Most of the island's sights are concentrated in the old town: Duval Street is lined with brightly painted wooden houses, galleries, bars, and shops; theHemingway Homestill houses the famous six-toed cats; Truman's Little White House, where he spent winters, is well preserved; and the southernmost point buoy at the island's southern tip is a highly photographed landmark that marks the distance to Cuba. Every evening, Mallory Square fills with street performers, craft vendors, and crowds who gather to watch the sunset, and the long-running sunset celebration has become an everyday island tradition. If you want to get out on the water, snorkeling and exploring the nearby living coral reefs are activities many visitors specifically plan for.Key West · 425m from downtown

The Hemingway House Museum is located on Key West Island in Florida, USA. Hemingway lived here for only 10 years. This 10 years was also the heyday of his writing, and many important works were also written here. The former residence still retains the appearance of Hemingway's residence, including books everywhere, and a living room ready to receive friends. Stepping into the courtyard, the eyes are full of green trees and flowers, which looks quiet and serene. At the end of the short corridor, hidden in the shadows of trees and flowers is a Spanish-style two-story building with lemon-yellow walls, grass-green window lattices and dark blue roofs, giving people a deep and distant feeling.Key West · 2.1 km from downtown

Everglades National Park is a completely different world. A speedboat ride on the Grass River carries the scent of damp earth and vegetation. Alligators float silently on the water's edge like dead trees, while egrets glide across the vast, sea-like swamp. The sun is blazing, yet everything grows silently, possessing a primal and powerful vitality.

基韦斯特岛是美国最南端的一个岛屿,类似于大陆的南极村,风景十分漂亮,震撼。海水湛蓝,海岛秀丽,再加上蓝天白云,真是一幅秀美的水天风光大片。

In Key West, Southern Most Point should be an iconic check-in point. Many people line up to take photos. It is only 90 miles from here to Cuba. The entire island chain is very Central and South American. I miss the sunshine and sea there so much. I don’t know if I can go there again in my lifetime.

Seven Mile Bridge In 1996, Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in the film "True Lies", which was filmed on the old bridge of the Seven Mile Bridge. The old bridge was deliberately broken into pieces to prevent people from walking on it and causing accidents. Occasionally, there are still some parts that are still intact, and many people are fishing there.

The beach at Deep Bay Park is really beautiful. Not only is the coastline clean, but the park is also very large, with a tropical seascape feel. The sea water is very good. The endless scenery is indeed quite charming.

This beach was totally worth the sand in the car. Our time here was completely unplanned - we stopped on our way out of town. The kids said it was the best beach on the trip. Very clean, easy parking and perfect photo ops. We found a few cool shells and it wasn't crowded. There were rocks to climb on and the sand was super soft.
