The Kremlin is located in the heart of Moscow and serves as the presidential residence. The word Kremlin means “fortress inside a city” in Russian. It is the heart of the country's capital and was once the site of the Imperial Palace of Russia. Inside the thick palace walls lies the magnificent architectural complex that was once the palace of the Tsars, as well as the Cathedral of the Archangel where the remains of many past Tsars rest, where members of the royal family were married and baptized and which was the site of each Tsar's coronation ceremony. Dormition Cathedral is home to the ancient clock tower of Ivan the Terrible, the State Armory, as well as the Presidential Palace and the Grand Auditorium built in the Soviet era.Moscow · 28.5 km from Mytishchinsky District

Central Armed Forces Museum, officially known as the Central Armed Forces Museum of the Russian Federation, is located in the center of Moscow. It is a museum themed around military history, with a history dating back to 1919, and the current building opened in 1965. The museum's over 20 permanent exhibition halls are arranged chronologically: starting from the Russian Army and Navy before 1917, through the formation of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army during the Russian Civil War, with the theme of the Great Patriotic War running through several halls, and continuing to the post-war Soviet military and the contemporary Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, centuries of Russian military history are strung together into a clear visiting route. The collection is known for its physical artifacts, including battle flags and captured military banners, medals and uniforms, small arms and artillery, as well as personal items belonging to commanders and ordinary soldiers. The Victory Hall is the highlight of the museum, displaying the Victory Banner, a symbol of the Soviet military and people's victory over fascist Germany in the Great Patriotic War. The outdoor exhibition area next to the museum is also worth setting aside time for. More than 100 pieces of large equipment, ranging from artillery and armored vehicles to missiles and aircraft, are lined up. There are both old weapons from the Civil War era and strategic rockets, which you can walk around and examine closely. For tourists interested in military history, spending half a day here is no problem. It is recommended to follow the chronological order of the exhibition halls, visiting the indoor exhibits before heading to the outdoor area, and do not miss those impressive pieces of heavy equipment.Moscow · 24.8 km from Mytishchinsky District

All-Russian Exhibition Center

141 reviews
All-Russian Exhibition Center is located in northeastern Moscow and covers an area of approx. 3 million square meters, making it a massive exhibition park. Its history dates back to the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition that opened in 1939. For decades, it was known as the "Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy." After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, it was briefly renamed the "All-Russian Exhibition Center," and today it has reverted to its historical name. Dozens of Soviet-era pavilions within the park have been well preserved, each with a distinct style. From agriculture, industry, and technology to the cultures of various ethnic groups, the exhibition themes almost lay out a three-dimensional picture of Soviet society. Walking through it feels like visiting an open-air architectural museum. The park's highlights are quite concentrated: the Fountain of Friendship of Peoples consists of 16 gilded statues of young women in traditional ethnic costumes surrounding a golden sheaf of wheat, making it an iconic photo spot; the Stone Flower Fountain is based on the stone flower from Ural folklore, with colorful mosaics covering the pool walls; and standing next to the main entrance is the stainless steel sculpture "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" created by sculptor Vera Mukhina. Today, it also brings together a large aquarium, the "Cosmos" aerospace-themed pavilion, an interactive robotics pavilion, and an urban farm. Outdoors, there are wide tree-lined avenues, ponds, and landscaped parks, which connect with Ostankino Park and the Main Botanical Garden. Locals often come here for walks and cycling. In winter, the park opens a large outdoor ice rink, and near the south entrance, there is a Ferris wheel that offers a bird's-eye view of the entire park.Moscow · 19.6 km from Mytishchinsky District

GUM

GUM is located on the east side of Red Square in Moscow, facing the Kremlin across the square. Its name is derived from the abbreviation of the Russian for "State Department Store," and it is also commonly referred to as "GUM." The current building was completed in the 1890s and was designed through a collaboration between architect Pomerantsev and engineer Shukhov. Its facade stretches over 200 meters along Red Square, featuring towers, spires, and stone carvings that evoke the vocabulary of medieval Russian architecture, yet it is supported by a steel frame structure that was quite advanced for its time. The continuous arched glass skylights were unique when the building was completed. The interior of the mall consists of three parallel shopping arcades spanning three levels, resembling a small city covered by a glass roof. The arched ceiling, composed of tens of thousands of glass panes, allows sunlight to flood the atrium, keeping the interior bright even when it is snowing outside. The fountain in the central arcade is the visual centerpiece of the entire mall and a common meeting point for Muscovites, with many tourists visiting specifically to take photos. The shops on both sides bring together hundreds of international and local brands, offering everything from fashion and jewelry to perfume and cosmetics. Even if you don't plan on shopping, it is worth coming in for a walk. The "Stolovaya No. 57" on the third level recreates the look of a Soviet state-run canteen, where you can carry a tray and choose traditional Russian home-style dishes. "Gastronome No. 1" replicates the grocery counters of the Soviet era, and its old-fashioned cream ice cream is quite famous. The "GUM ice cream" sold in small kiosks is another signature dessert that has been around for years. It is a great place to stop by and warm up after exploring Red Square, and when the lights come on at night, the glass arcades take on a different atmosphere.Moscow · 28.1 km from Mytishchinsky District

The National Model Theater of Russia, also known as the Bolshoi Theater, was built in 1776 and is a theater with a long history in Russia. The theater is a milky white classicism building, with 8 ancient Greek Ionian columns erected in front of the door, each 15 meters, above the porch is decorated with four horses and the carriage of the sun god Apollo, which is one of the symbols of Moscow. . The performance hall is splendid, with gold as the main color. There are 6-storey boxes, 21 meters high, 25 meters long and 26.3 meters wide. The sound effects in the theater are well-equipped. The Bolshoi Theatre has a world-class opera company, ballet company, symphony orchestra and chorus. It is a representative Russian theatre. Tchaikovsky and Anton Rubinstein have all served as conductors in the theatre. In the history of more than 200 years, the Grand Theater has not only witnessed every step of the development of Russian ballet art, but also cultivated a large number of famous dance and opera artists. There have been many ballet superstars here, such as Safransky, Nezhdanova, Ogerov, Belinshinskaya and, of course, Galina Ulanova, the "beautiful swan" of the 20th century ballet, very familiar to Chinese audiences. As the world's high art palace of ballet, the Grand Theatre has preserved and developed the essence of classical ballet unparalleled, and has become the "business card" of Moscow and even the whole of Russia.Moscow · 27.5 km from Mytishchinsky District

Visiting the Moscow Kremlin was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere, architecture, and historical depth of the place are truly impressive. Everything was well organized, and the value for money was excellent. Even as a solo traveler, I felt fully immersed and engaged the entire time. A must-visit landmark in Moscow that really shows the heart of Russian history and culture.

A place that gives you a comprehensive understanding of Russia's history from the ape age to the early 19th century. There are 36 exhibition halls, each of which is not large, but the exhibits are very classic. Unfortunately, the Chinese audio guide can only hear the introduction of a small part of the selected exhibits, and the rest depends on your own research. It is worth coming a few more times

We've been to this water park many times. Now we live nearby. It's quieter on weekdays, but busy on weekends. It's fairly clean, and lifeguards are on duty. There are individual and family changing rooms, plenty of slides, three jacuzzis, a kids' area, various saunas, and a hammam. Tickets vary, too: for a few hours or the whole day, and there are often special offers. I highly recommend it!

Traveling to Russia, this stop came to Moscow, the Military Museum, which seems to be called the Central Armed Forces Museum, is definitely one of the attractions worth visiting. Because I am not a military fan, I went there just for a visit. In addition, it was winter, when the snow was the heaviest, and the planes, cannons, and tanks on display outdoors were almost buried in the snow. I could only see what it was. Do you want to ask me the model? I don’t know, although there are always museum guides following and constantly introducing, but if you like it, you are welcome to come and appreciate it in person.

VDNKh (ВДНХ), officially the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy or the All-Russia Exhibition Centre, is a place you should definitely dedicate an entire day to if you visit Moscow. Located in the northeastern side of Moscow, VDNKh is like an entire city in itself, filled with exhibitions, museums, restaurants, canteens and gardens. It was built during the Stalinist period to highlight the different aspects of the Soviet economy and the cultural diversity of the different republics. You can get here by metro, just take the train to the VDNKh metro station, and it would take less than 30 minutes from the city centre.Once you are there, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. The place is massive and you should not expect to see everything. You should definitely head to the information centre and get a map first, as it would be so helpful in helping you navigate around the giant complex. After that you should decide on which areas to focus on.After the main entrance you can see the pavilions of the different former Soviet states such as Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Entry to these pavilions is free and you should definitely check them out to get a glimpse into these exotic lands, and it might even fuel your desire for your next travel adventure.Walk further down and you can see a canteen where you can savour food from all different parts of Russia. Remember, while Moscow is the capital, Russia is the world’s largest country with landscapes and cultures that are very varied. Personally I really liked the cuisine from the Caucasus region. After that, for people interested in science and technology, there are exhibitions (ticket required) about subjects like nuclear power, agriculture, aviation, etc. There is really a lot to check out and this is a place a recommend everyone to go, and I would love to go again.#russia #moscow #россия

A must-visit gallery in Moscow! A day spent being awestruck by Russian aesthetics – totally worth it, well worth the ticket price!! Entrance time: I recommend coming around noon, as the queues will be much shorter! Remember to go to the Old Gallery!! The most classic exhibits are all in the Old Gallery!! I recommend spending 3-4 hours there. Renting an audio guide for 500 rubles (I think) is a must – don't skimp on this!
