This afternoon, we made a last-minute decision to visit Dujiangyan. We contacted a travel agency, and they responded quickly, arranging our itinerary and guide immediately. Our guide today, Ms. Baihe, was incredibly professional; her knowledge far exceeded our expectations. From the historical background of Li Bing and his son's water management efforts, to the water diversion and sediment removal principles of the three major projects—Fish Mouth, Feisha Weir, and Baopingkou—and the wisdom behind the six characters "deepen the riverbed, lower the weir," her explanation was clear, logical, and progressively structured.
Our group consisted of friends from the north, many of whom were visiting Dujiangyan for the first time. We initially thought it would just be about seeing an ancient weir, but after her explanation, we truly understood why this project has functioned for over two thousand years and why it's a World Heritage Site. It was definitely worth the trip.
