Sokcho Beach

Sokcho Beach

4.7/5
115 reviews
Sokcho Beach has clear water and a pine forest behind the wide sandy beach, which is beautiful. And because it is close to Sokcho Express Station (only 500 meters on foot), the transportation is convenient. Since the bathing area is very close to Mt. Seorak, many climbers who started from Nae Seorak and descended from Daecheong Peak to Seorak-dong also stopped by. From Cheongho-dong, Chaoyang-dong to Daepo-dong, the total length of the beach is 2 kilometers. The open part is 450 meters long, 75 meters wide, and covers an area of about 9,000 tsubo. Due to the fine sand, clear water and dense pine forests, the number of tourists increases year by year. Sokcho Beach, along with the famous Seoraksan Mountain, Cheoksan Hot Spring, Cheongcho Lake and Yeongrang Lake, has played an important role in making Sokcho City a comprehensive tourist destination. You can taste fresh live fish on the breakwater on the left side of the beach, and you can also take a boat to the Bird Island in front of the beach to fish.Sokcho-si · 2.1 km from downtown

Entering Seoraksan National Park and walking for 3 minutes, we came to Xinxing Temple. Xinxing Temple was built by a Tsang lawyer (590-658) who visited famous mountains all over the country, and was formerly known as Xiangcheng Temple. It was rebuilt after multiple damages. The incense burns at Shinheungsa Temple, and it is a must-see for those who visit Seoraksan. There is a huge bronze sitting Buddha statue on the road leading to Xinxing Temple. The Buddha statue is located on a wide granite platform, more than 10 meters high. After passing the Buddha statue, turn right and there is a newly built suspension bridge over the stream. After crossing the bridge, there is Tianwang Gate on the side of the long stone wall, leading to the temple. On both sides of the entrance, there are huge statues of the Four Heavenly Kings (the Heavenly King holding a sword, the Heavenly King Taman holding a pipa, the Heavenly King Guangmu with a tower, and the Heavenly King of Growth holding a dragon). The Buddha statues of Shenxing Temple were erected when Shanzheng Temple was founded. There are Buddha statues directly carved by Master Yixiang, such as Maitreya Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Shizhixiang, etc. There are also the Fatang, Daxiong Hall, Hades Hall, and Baoji Building built at that time. , Qixing Pavilion and other buildings, as well as the 3-story stone pagoda of the Xiangcheng Ruins No. 443 of the key cultural heritage. In addition, you can go up to Ulsan Rock from Sunshine Temple along the wall.Sokcho-si · 10 km from downtown

Naksan Beach is one of the three largest beaches on the east coast of South Korea. It opened to the public in 1963 and attracts a large number of tourists every summer. The white sand field here is surrounded by lush pine forests, and the water is not deep, which is very suitable as a beach. There are also sightseeing spots such as Naksansa Temple and Uisangdae among the famous Eight Views of Kanto. It only takes ten minutes to drive to Seorak Mountain, which is very convenient.Yangyang · 10.5 km from Sokcho-si

Aba Village is a famous tourist destination in Sokcho, and it is also a place where many North Koreans took refuge during the Korean War. Since they could not return to their hometowns, they settled here for a long time. This is also the location where Enxi's family is located in the popular Korean drama "Blue Life and Death", and the small shop run by Enxi's mother is still in the small village, but the store in the play is now a restaurant, but the building itself still remains Looks like in the play. Abba Village is a typical rural village in Korea with dense houses and rustic style. The village still uses the raft that appeared in the play. This raft appeared earlier in the 1950s and was the means of transportation for the villagers to go to the city. What is special about rafts is that human power is required to pull the chains attached to the raft to make the raft glide. At dusk, the raft glides slowly on the water covered with the afterglow of the setting sun, just like the scene in the TV series. There is a special snack called "Aba Rice Sausage" in Abai Village. It is made from glutinous rice, pig blood and vegetables, seasoned and stuffed into pig intestines. It is quite delicious.Sokcho-si · 593m from downtown

Quanjin Fortress is an ancient city ruins located in the steep mountains of Seoraksan Small Park, also known as Seorak Mountain Fortress, Yongjin Mountain Fortress, and Tutu Fortress. Legend has it that two generals surnamed Quan and Jin built the city to avoid war, so it is called Quanjin City. Ulsan Rock, located on the Seoraksan hiking route, consists of 6 granite peaks with a circumference of 4 kilometers. When you climb Ulsan Rock, you can see the scenery of Mt. Seorak and the scenery of the East Sea, Dharma Peak, and Hakshaping Reservoir. There are three legends about the origin of Ulsanam's name: one is that it is called "Ulsan" due to the appearance of a fence road (the Korean grammar is similar), another is said to be derived from the place name of Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, and another is said to be the "Crying Mountain". Seorak Sunrise Park is not far from Sokcho Beach and is a good place to watch the sunrise of the East Sea. Every year on December 31st, Koreans who like to greet the sunrise and say goodbye to the old and welcome the new come from all directions to seize the favorable terrain to watch the sunrise. As the New Year's sun leaps above the horizon, the golden sun tints the azure waters red and the scene is spectacular. Uixiangtai is located on the hillside of the coast from Luoshan Temple to Honglian Temple Guanyin Cave. When King Munmu of Silla built Naksansa Temple in 676, Master Uixiang meditated and practiced here. The existing pavilion was built in 1925. Yixiang Terrace is octagonal in shape and is an excellent place to watch the sunrise. It has been famous throughout the ages. Songjiang Jungcheol, a poet in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty, left behind the feeling of watching the sunrise at Uisangdae in his "Bie Song of Kanto". Shinxing Temple is also a very nice little place. The interior decoration of the temple is relatively simple and is divided into many different levels. Many of the contents are also suitable for visiting small places. The surrounding landscape is very good.

Naksan Beach is famous as a tourist destination on the East Coast because of Naksansa Temple. It is a famous place with clean white sand and blue sea. The winter sea is good because the waves are high, clean, and quiet. Naksan Beach in the summer has cool sea, wide white sand, and great things to see such as Naksansa Temple, Uisangdae, and Haesu Gwaneum Bodhisattva. It is great to visit regardless of the season and the scenery is excellent. I highly recommend it to those who haven't been there yet.
