The outdoor exhibition area features many rare models of passenger aircraft, and full-scale mechanical instruments, such as giant aircraft engines, are scattered throughout the grounds. Visitors can climb the spiral staircase to board the aircraft, not only to see the deconstructed spaces like the cabin and luggage compartment, but also to walk out onto the wings for a bird's-eye view. Those interested can even take a slide from several stories high straight down to the ground. Technic Museum Speyer also houses original jet aircraft, as well as submarines and sea rescue cruisers. In the indoor hall, there are thousands of locomotives, vintage cars, fire engines, motorcycles, and other exhibits.

Student Jail (Studentenkarzer) was a detention room at Heidelberg University used to confine students who violated university rules. Between 1778 and 1914, the university held independent judicial authority, and students who broke the rules were confined here for punishment. Detained students still attended classes during the day. The main attraction for visitors is the intricate graffiti on the interior walls: over more than a century, detained students used ink, soot, and colored chalk to draw on the walls, door frames, and even the ceiling, leaving behind numerous profile portraits, fraternity emblems, names, and poems, layered across the space—even the writer Mark Twain was impressed by it. After the facility was closed, it was preserved in its original state, furnished with the beds and desks of the past, authentically recreating the unique imprint of campus life at a 19th-century European university.

Old Bridge Heidelberg spans the Neckar River and is also known as the Karl Theodor Bridge. Bridges have been rebuilt here repeatedly since the Middle Ages. Early wooden bridges were often destroyed by war and by floating ice. Between 1786 and 1788, Elector Karl Theodor oversaw the construction of this nine-arch stone bridge built of red sandstone. At the bridgehead stand a medieval bridge gate and two white round towers. The towers were once used as prisons and are now highly recognizable landmarks. The bridge piers still bear the marks of past floods. The bridge is adorned with statues of the Elector and Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, and a hollow bronze monkey holding a small mirror stands at the bridgehead. From the bridge you can look out over the red-tiled Old Town and the hillside castle. After crossing the bridge, you can connect to the Philosophenweg. From the opposite bank, you can enjoy the classic view of the old bridge alongside the castle.

Most tour groups don't pass by here, so there are very few Chinese tourists. The museum is very large and has a collection of classic cars of various brands, motorcycles, trains, fire trucks, etc. There are also civilian aircraft, fighters, transport aircraft, including crashed fighters during World War II. Some of the aircraft can be climbed up to visit, and then slide down on the slide. It is worth visiting.

Visited Heidelberg Castle (Schloss Heidelberg) with my wife on 2 May 2026. The adult castle ticket is €11 (€5.50 reduced) and includes the lower funicular return up to the castle, the courtyard, the Great Tun, and the German Pharmacy Museum — already covered if you have a HeidelbergCARD.We also walked the Old Bridge (Karl-Theodor-Brücke): touch the bronze monkey’s mirror for wealth, the fingers to return to Heidelberg. Best free view is across the bridge then up the Schlangenweg (~500 m steps) to the Philosophenweg — castle, bridge, and Altstadt in one frame.For the Bergbahn: panorama return (both railways to Königstuhl) is €17 adults; if you’re only going to the castle, stick with the €11 ticket that includes the lower funicular.

Speyer Cathedral is the largest church in Speyer. It is a bishop's cathedral, so it has a very high status in German Christianity. The entire church is very grand, especially the vaulted gallery inside. It is also a landmark building in Speyer, so don't miss it.

It used to be a place where students made mistakes at Heidelberg University, but it's a shame if you graduated and haven't been in prison yet. - "There are all kinds of written instructions at the entrance. The mistakes made by students are really strange, such as "scaring the piglets of villagers to wow".
