Oirase keiryū Gorge

Oirase keiryū Gorge flows out from Lake Towada and stretches for approx. 14 km. The water flow is highly varied, and the banks are covered with primeval forests of cypress, beech, and maple trees. Together with Lake Towada, it has been designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and a Natural Monument of Aomori Prefecture. Stroll along the gorge to enjoy the natural beauty along the way. Here, you will find lush, dense trees, splashing water droplets, moss floating on the water, and rocks entwined with vines, creating a breathtaking landscape. The various waterfalls along Oirase keiryū Gorge are also worth seeing, including the 25m high Kumoi Falls, the voluminous Chōshi ōtaki Falls, as well as Tama-sudare Falls and Shiraito Falls, where the water cascades down like scattered pearls, each with its own unique charm. In winter, you can also see the beautiful frozen waterfalls here. In addition to hiking, visitors can also take a bus to tour the area. Cycling is also a very popular way to explore; bicycles can be rented at Nenokuchi and Yakeyama, allowing you to rent from one side and return it at the other.
