This group of buildings was built in the Song Dynasty, and the castle is divided into inner and outer cities. In the inner city, a three-story, four-in-one "Wanbi Building" is built, which means "complete jade returns to Zhao". The portraits of 18 emperors of the Song Dynasty are hung in the building. There is a Wengcheng at the north gate, and the Wu Temple and the Father and Son Doctor's Square are built in the Wengcheng, which are the main entrance. Zhaojiabao is adjacent to Danzao Mountain in the south and facing Tianma Mountain in the north. The Wanbi Building is a three- or four-way square building with a height of 20 meters and 16 rooms on each floor. The outer ring of the building is built with a stone-based earthen fort. The three-height earthen fort is 6 meters high and 2 meters wide, with a crenel on it. There are four city gates in the east, west, north and south. The east gate is inscribed with "Oriental Great Barrier", the west gate is inscribed with "Shuo Gao Jusheng", and the south gate is inscribed with "Danding Zhongxiang", but the north gate has no inscription. A tunnel is built in the patio to lead to the east gate. The Wanbi Building and its sanitation earthen fort are commonly known as the "Inner City". The other part is Zhao Yijian's five entrance houses, each with 30 rooms, a total of 150 rooms. It is still well preserved. The outer city wall is a three-layered clay wall, 6 meters high, 2 meters thick, and 1200 meters in circumference. The main buildings in the outer city are five mansions that are juxtaposed with five entrances. There are also precious cultural relics such as the Bianpai Bridge, the Yu Stele, the "Mochi" stone inscription of the Song Dynasty calligrapher Mi Fu's handwriting, and the Ju Buddha Pagoda. When the Southern Song Dynasty fell, the Song clan Qi Ruohe and Huang Shichen fled to Zhangpu in Guangdong, where they took refuge and lived in seclusion. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, his tenth grandson Zhao Fan built a fort here, and later Zhao Fan's son Zhao Yi expanded it. The castle was built in the style of Bianjing, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty.Zhangpu · 21.9 km from downtown

Zhonggu Cableway

8k reviews
The Zhonggu Cableway is an elevated sightseeing cable car spanning the Wanshi mountains in Xiamen. Its lower station is located near the west gate of Xiamen botanical garden and the Zhonggu Mountain tunnel entrance. The route passes the botanical garden, Huxi Rock, and Hongshan area, extending all the way to the Wulao Peak behind Nanputuo temple, covering over 1,000 m in total. The cable car features semi-open two-person gondolas without window panes, offering unobstructed views where mountain breezes brush past your face. Once seated, you'll be suspended above layers of greenery and city rooftops. The round-trip itinerary takes approx. 40 mins. Upon reaching the terminal station, the train returns along the same route without requiring transfers. From this elevated vantage point, you can take in Xiamen's mountains, sea, and cityscape all at once: below lies the lush forest and rugged rocks of the botanical garden, while a turn of the head reveals the temple eaves of Nanputuo temple. In the distance, Gulangyu island, the twin towers, and the open sea unfold in sequence—on clear days, you can even spot the islands toward Kinmen. Along the way, the train passes original wartime tunnels and wind-eroded boulders, adding a touch of historical ambiance to this aerial journey. For a more enjoyable experience, you may choose the departure time slot around sunset when the sea and city skyline under the evening glow make for particularly stunning photos. This time slot is often in high demand. The cable car baskets are open on all sides, so travelers who are sensitive to wind should pick a clear and less windy day. The cable car may suspend operations in case of strong winds, thunderstorms, or other adverse weather conditions. It is advisable to check the day's situation before departure.Xiamen · 61.3 km from Zhangpu

Before coming, I saw many posts online warning against visiting this place, saying it was desolate and not good. But I actually really liked it. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My husband also said this was his favorite spot on this trip to Zhangzhou. If you like places with fewer people and the whole beach to yourself, don't miss it!

It was a great experience. Fortunately, I made an appointment online in advance, otherwise there would be a lot of people on weekends. It was worth my long wait. It was really good. I unlocked a new store and chose this one based on the reviews. I was very satisfied with the food and drinks. It was very good. The experience was very good and the price was fair. I will come again next time.^◡^. It is worth recommending. I mainly praise the staff. They are super nice and have a really good attitude. There is no impatience at all! The location is easy to find. You can see a big logo at a glance. The environment is very good and the atmosphere is also 🈶️

Located at the foot of the Shuogao Mountain in Huxi, Shexiang, Zhangpu County, Fujian Province, with a radius of 0.5 kilometers, 38 kilometers from the city center and 90 kilometers from Zhangzhou city, it is an ancient castle where Zhao Ruohe, the Prince of Minchong (the 10th-generation grandson of Zhao Kuangmei, the younger brother of Emperor Taizu of Song, Zhao Kuangyin), a royal family member of the late Southern Song Dynasty, took refuge and lived in seclusion in exile in the late Southern Song Dynasty. It is commonly known as Zhaojiabao.

An ancient city is a carrier of a place's history, culture, and customs. Zhangzhou Ancient City, bearing witness to the city's millennia-long history and culture, is a "living fossil" of Zhangzhou's ancient culture and a "living archive" witnessing the city's historical and cultural changes. An ancient city is a repository of memories, emotions, and nostalgia. In the ancient city, you can find the taste of your childhood, hear the everyday chatter of your neighbors, and feel the warmth of home. Here, you can see the historical accumulation of Zhangzhou, feel its cultural heritage, and find your spiritual home. An ancient city is an engine for a place's cultural tourism and economy. In the ancient city, you can taste authentic Minnan snacks, buy handicrafts and intangible cultural heritage products, and enjoy traditional operas and folk performances. Here, you can experience the city's cultural charm, enjoy its cultural benefits, and reap its cultural rewards. Zhangzhou Ancient City is one of Fujian Province's famous historical and cultural cities and an important part of Minnan culture. Founded during the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty, it has evolved over a thousand years and still retains many precious historical and cultural relics. Visiting the Zhonggu Cableway in early October, with its clear skies and gentle breezes, offered the perfect opportunity to experience the breathtaking aerial views, far removed from the sweltering heat of midsummer. The Zhonggu Cableway traverses the Wanshi Mountain forest, and the gentle ascent in the cable car provides a unique and immersive experience, offering panoramic views of Xiamen from above. The cable car cabins are open-plan, offering unobstructed views. As the cable car slowly ascends, lush subtropical forests line both sides, their verdant foliage and fresh mountain air filling the air. With each ascent, the view gradually expands, revealing the verdant Zhonggu Mountain range nearby, and in the distance, the red-tiled roofs of Xiamen's old town, along with the high-rise buildings and the bay, unfolding in a harmonious tapestry. Reaching the highest point, one can gaze upon Gulangyu Island and the boundless sea, taking in the panoramic view of the city, mountains, and azure ocean blending seamlessly into a breathtaking panorama. The entire journey takes approximately forty minutes one way, with a smooth and leisurely ride, ideal for savoring the scenery at a leisurely pace. Along the way, you'll see towering boulders in the valleys and forest trails, with constantly changing mountain scenery from different angles. Compared to hiking, the cable car saves you the effort of climbing, yet offers a panoramic view unmatched by ordinary observation decks. The only drawback is the long queues during peak hours; it's recommended to travel during off-peak times. The cabins offer no shade, so remember to wear sunscreen when the sun is strong. Sitting in the cable car, with the mountain breeze in your ears and overlooking the entire city, you'll feel incredibly relaxed. The Zhonggu Cableway is more than just a transportation route; it's a window into the panoramic view of Xiamen's mountains and sea. Here, the wild beauty of the mountains and the coastal cityscape converge, allowing you to experience the tranquility of nature while enjoying breathtaking urban views. If you're tired of the bustling city streets, climbing here and gazing at the unique mountain and sea scenery of Xiamen from mid-air is a pleasant and unforgettable experience.

The Dongshan Wind-Moving Stone Scenic Area truly lives up to its reputation as a landmark of Dongshan Island. The "Number One Wonder Stone in the World" is truly awe-inspiring, with a 200-ton boulder hanging precariously on the cliff edge, swaying slightly in the wind yet remaining standing for millennia. The park also features historical sites such as the Tongshan Ancient City and the Guandi Temple. The coastal boardwalk offers expansive sea views, and the combination of natural wonders and Minnan (Southern Fujian) culture makes for a pleasant stroll with the sea breeze. It's definitely worth a visit when visiting Dongshan Island.
