Kandy Victoria Eco Resort

Very pretty and nice resort with mountain view. Friendly staffs and super super nice breakfast. However, it is too fat away from Kandy city center, you have to pay 1500+ rp for each ride, and most tuk tuk drivers don't prefer to go to this place. The google map shows wrong way and the team knew about this, but informed us just on the day of arrival, making this journey even harder.

This place is set on the mountain plains, and the morning views are absolutely stunning – waking up to mist and fog rolling over the hills, and walking along the road with those scenic vistas, was a real treat. If you're after peaceful mountain vibes, the location delivers. Cleanliness is good, and the staff are friendly and polite throughout. The breakfast spread was decent too – nothing fancy, but tasty enough to start the day right. It's also convenient that downtown is just 2–3 km away, where you'll find plenty of restaurants with good food options. The room comes with tea bags and a kettle, plus hot water for showers – all basic but functional. I visited in August, and the cold was manageable with the thick blanket they provided, so I slept fine without a heater. They don't have AC, which is understandable given the mountain climate, though in winter you'll need to pay an extra 2,000 rs per night for a heater – something to keep in mind if you're visiting during colder months. The bed was average – linens and towels were clean, but I could feel the springs a bit, which affected my sleep slightly. Also, from the windows, you don't get a mountain or lake view – maybe one or two rooms might have one, but I wouldn't count on it. The real charm is outside when you step out in the early morning. Price-wise, I booked at 315, and with taxes it came to 410. For me personally, that felt a bit high considering the room itself is quite basic. I think the premium is mainly for the location and that incredible morning fog and mist experience. If you're someone who really values waking up to that atmosphere, it might still be worth it for you. Overall, it's a decent place with lovely views and friendly staff – just manage your expectations on the room and be prepared for the price. Would I stay again? Maybe not at this rate, but I can see why others might enjoy it.

W15 Glenfall

We recently stayed at W15 Glenfall Nuwara Eliya on a bed & breakfast basis, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. We were given one of the most centered rooms with the largest balcony, offering a lovely view — definitely a highlight of our stay. The room was spacious, very clean, and well equipped, with tea and coffee making facilities available. The interior felt luxurious and cozy, and the entire property is well maintained. The washroom was quite large, with basic amenities provided, and they mentioned via WhatsApp that any additional items could be requested. However, I requested two dental kits and even followed up twice, but unfortunately they were not delivered. Check-in was smooth and quick, and parking is conveniently available with a friendly and helpful security officer. The small lawn area is also nicely maintained and adds to the charm of the property. Their pre-order dining system is quite efficient, dinner needs to be ordered before 6 pm and breakfast before 10 pm the previous night. The food was delicious, and we especially enjoyed the English breakfast, which was very well prepared. The staff were generally attentive and helpful, contributing positively to the stay. However, it would be nice to see a welcome drink at check-in, and since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, a small gesture like a cake or simple decoration would have made it more special. Also, the rooms are not fully soundproof, as some noise from the kitchen and lobby could be heard. Overall, it’s a beautiful and comfortable property in Nuwara Eliya, ideal for a relaxing getaway. With a few improvements in attention to detail, the experience could be even better. 🌿✨

A Hidden Gem – Perfect Honeymoon or Quiet Getaway This place is truly a hidden gem. It was the perfect spot for a honeymoon couple or anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway. Travel tip: From Colombo, you can catch a direct bus to Nuwalapitiya. We didn’t know this and went via Kandy, which made the journey longer than necessary. If we had known, we would have taken the direct bus—it’s much easier. Ps:The bus ride is phenomenal—very beautiful views along the way and very cheap. The property is located on a hill and is naturally beautiful, surrounded by trees and birds whose songs make the atmosphere even more serene. It does get a bit cold at night, but it was the perfect kind of chilly—cozy and refreshing. Our room had an amazing view, making it even more special. The stay itself was perfect for our honeymoon: very cozy, comfortable, and clean. The staff were amazing, especially one gentleman at the restaurant (I didn’t catch his name, but I want to mention him). He went above and beyond to help us and was incredibly sweet and warm-hearted—it really made our stay special. A small note: we noticed the pool looked a bit dirty, which some other reviews also mentioned. However, it was clarified in the pool area that they use natural spring water without chemicals, so this is expected and actually a great eco-friendly approach. But This hotel needs some love because this is a very nice place. Another small note: there were some insects, like cockroaches, but that’s expected when staying on a hill in the middle of nature surrounded by trees. Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience and a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended!!

Coffee Bungalow Kandy

The Good The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture. The Bad The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient. The Ugly Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort. Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

A very nice little villa with drinks and biscuits when staying, the service is good. There are a total of six rooms, and there is a lounge in the attic with a billiard. The decoration is very nice. The socket is a round hole socket and we need a conversion plug. There is a kettle in the room. The bad place is that the toilet flush can not be washed, and the sink faucet is bad. Because I stayed for one night, I did not comment.

Lovely stay at Villa Tea Fields in Nuwara Eliya! We really enjoyed our time here. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well maintained, with a pleasant and cozy interior. The location is fantastic — right in the middle of beautiful tea plantations, very peaceful and scenic. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were warmly greeted, treated to a wonderful breakfast, and even received lovely little gifts, which was such a thoughtful and heartwarming touch. A great place to relax, enjoy nature, and experience genuine Sri Lankan hospitality. Highly recommended!

We stayed here two nights to enjoy the two main attractions of the area. The boys are very available and the manager is a nice young man who can do it! The location is very quiet even though not very far from the rooms. The hotel is very comfortable and it is very comfortable and it is very comfortable and it is very comfortable and it is very good.

Just a short walk from the bus stop, this gem of a guesthouse is hands down the best place to stay in Sri Lanka. The owner goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, always offering help and thoughtful advice. He even arranged for a local tuk-tuk driver at a very reasonable price, ensuring I had the best experience exploring the area. Every afternoon, he would check in and offer a delightful cup of tea, making the stay feel extra special. His wife’s cooking is an absolute highlight—breakfast was not just delicious but prepared with so much care, adding a homely touch to every meal. The room itself was super clean, big, and incredibly comfortable. From start to finish, they both made me feel completely at home. I can say this was the best accommodation I experienced during my time in Sri Lanka, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a truly memorable and comfortable stay.
