When booking a hotel, I noticed that prices in Queenstown were generally quite high, so I ended up choosing this one. Our building had private bathrooms for each room, but the kitchen was shared. The room itself was a bit small, and the bunk bed mattresses were so thick that I often bumped my head. There's parking available in the hotel's courtyard, but it can get quite tight when there are a lot of guests. The location is a little out of the town center, with quite a few uphill and downhill sections. All in all, considering the price, I was reasonably satisfied.
We washed and waiting our clothes to be dried in the dryer machine. It’s about room checkout time. The owner let us wait until the dryer completed, although it passed the check out time. We were grateful to her kindness and helpfulness very much.
Great location to base yourself for a few days of seeing Queenstown. (It really is that close.)
Nice and friendly staff at check in and throughout. Most helpful.
Ents included TV, books, games, couple of guitars, ocassional theme evenings. Couple of outdoor spaces.
Bathrooms are fine although if fairly or more than fairly tall, the shower heads are surprisingly low down.
I understand the difficulties with this given the time of year but a floor by floor deep clean is probably needed. Whilst I am no member of the fun police, having numerous notes across the place emphasising the need to keep noise down after 10pm, I can see why this might be a bit galling when the staff who live there alongside guests do not abide by this - especially when you have no idea who is a worker who is off duty.
Might be impossible given temperatures, but it wasn't ideal to climb into my bunk in the pitch black (other than the light from my phone) and find a cat sleeping there (honestly!) I like a cat but if I hadn't had my phone lit, I would never have known and would have landed forcefully on it. I actually found it quite funny but a lot wouldn't. All hell could have broken loose if I had landed on it. (Amusingly and no joke, I was watching Don't F*** with Cats at the time and had paused it while I climbed in. Perhaps it was written...)
Anyway, really nice spot and right for the price.
Cheers!
Beautiful room, not very big but well designed, doesn't feel cramped. There is no refrigerator in this room. Checking in yourself is convenient. When checking out, just drop your card into the box at the reception. The hotel is located in the middle of the city. Parking on the street is free for a period of time (can't remember). The water flows strong and the hot water works well. I like it.
Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin is a convenient place to stay, with its central location making it easy to walk to the Octagon and explore the city. The rooms are tidy and comfortable, offering a relaxing space after a day out. Staff were welcoming and helpful, which added to the overall experience.
The property shows a bit of age, but it’s clean, well-kept, and provides good value for the price. A reliable option for a stay in Dunedin.
The room is of a good size, with a view of the sea and sunrise in the morning. The parking lot is large and convenient for parking. There are good restaurants around the hotel, and we had a hearty and unforgettable dinner. The facilities are a bit old, but it does not affect the use.
Heartland has the ideal location - just a short walk from the heart of the city, yes the views from the King Chalet room was breathtaking. Thankful to be assigned a very nice corner room for my week’s stay. Interior of the room is kept simple yet comfortable. I had a most unforgettable stay!
A hotel with a story, a beautiful garden, and a school ruins hut that is now a souvenir shop. The restaurant is very popular, and many people are waiting for a table. The guest room area has 2 floors, no elevator, and the rooms are not big, retro style, exquisite and beautiful. The TV is too old, and it is a big drum model.
Facilities: There is a private bathroom, microwave, electric kettle, kitchenware and tableware, and all the facilities are very new.
Hygiene: The sheets are snow-white, the faucets and stainless steel trash can lids are polished to a shine without any marks, and the trash can is large enough. The carpets and towels were clean.
Environment: It has its own parking lot and parking is free.
Service: The service staff are enthusiastic, have a good attitude and are willing to help.

Very Good
GGuest UserThis hotel offers excellent service and boasts new facilities. The rooms are incredibly quiet, ensuring a very comfortable night's sleep. I highly recommend staying here when you visit New Zealand. The amenities are comprehensive, and the self-check-in and check-out process is very smart. It's definitely a top choice for accommodation during your travels.

SSafiyoooI had a truly wonderful stay at this retreat. The place itself is absolutely spectacular — very calming, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking views. The deck is stunning, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
The owners were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and looked after throughout my stay. Their hospitality genuinely stood out. The dogs were lovely and added so much warmth to the experience. Breakfast was excellent, and the variety of teas available was out of this world.
As a female solo traveller, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and well cared for, which is something I value highly. The atmosphere is peaceful and nurturing — exactly what you want from a retreat.
The only minor downside is that it’s a bit far from the shops (around a one-hour walk). However, this was easily managed as Uber is only a 6-minute drive, and the hosts were also kind enough to offer lifts when possible.
Overall, an absolutely stunning place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay
11860291****Overall, it was very good. I stayed for one night. It was comfortable and warm. Check-in and check-out were easy and hassle-free. It is located in the suburbs. It doesn't matter if you have a car. Overall, it was very good. There are cats. There is also a small bottle of milk when you check in🥛

ZZongyouyangguang1970The hotel is full of old-fashioned Scottish style. The first floor is a bar, restaurant, and a casino. The front desk clerk is very funny. He often drinks and chats in the bar. He will come over if you need anything. The corridor and stairwell are full of old-fashioned style and very romantic. The room is not big, with old-fashioned doors and windows. There is free parking. It is in the city center, Bajiao Street, the old train station, and the oldest church are all within a 5-minute walk. There are two different national chain supermarkets, Countdown and New World, within a 10-minute walk.
MmgshelleVery affordable yet clean spacious hotel that we visited. The window outside view is very fascinating.Booking was easy and the location is also accessible for other amenities. The receptionist who assisted us during check in was so quick and we were sent to our villa less than 10mins. After our check out we handed the card key and another receptionist thank us for leaving the room so clean. We dint expect that she appreciate us of not messing around.Twas a great stay!

GGuest UserKitchen supplies could be improved, because there was no dishwasher and no range hood installed for ventilation, plus there was a scary sign ordering travelers not to cook fragrant food. Travelers arrive from all over the world with different food habits, so not sure what's considered unacceptable to cook. The electric cooking stove was old and kind of broken. The windows have no screens so it was difficult to leave them open without insects crawling in and we got multiple mosquito bites. Room on the small side for families as there was no separation. We appreciated the free washing machine and dryer, and detergent cost NZ$2.
