Town God's Temple, Baoding

Baoding City God Temple is located in Baoding City, Hebei Province. It is one of the important gods that are widely admired in China's national religious culture. The city is mostly served by famous heroes who are worthy of local people and are the gods of Chinese folk and Taoism who believe in protecting the city. According to the author of "Baoding City Zhi" by Fang Zhi and the editor-in-chief of the original "Baoding City Temple History Talk", the city refers to the surrounding city walls, and the city is the city wall, with the city guard the city pool.

Baoding Chenghuang Temple was built in the early Northern Song Dynasty when the city was built. Jin Zhenxuan first year (1213), Mongolian army Tubaozhou (now Baoding), Chenghuang Temple was destroyed in fire. Jinzheng University four years (1227), Mongolia Baozhou and other places Marshal Zhang Rou moved from the city to Baozhou, rebuilding the city pool and the majestic Chenghuang Temple. Qingguangxu 26 years (1900), British, French, German and Italian invaders invaded Baoding, and the Chenghuang Temple was burned by the German army in the northern city of Baoding. The next year, it was rebuilt by private funds, due to insufficient financial resources, and it was simpler than the original building. Empress Cixi and Emperor Guangxu returned to Beijing from Xi'an, passing through Baoding, chasing the Zhili Zhengfu, the acting governor of the Zhili Zhengli, who was killed by the coalition forces, Yan Xuan, the capital city, and the temple was changed to the capital city temple. In 1923, the direct Luyu inspection made Cao Yu renovate, re-model, newly built temples, and the theater at the southern end of the temple square also renovated.
