Changpu River

Beijing Changpu River Park is located on the east side of Tiananmen Square and opened in September 2002. The eastern section of the Jinshui River in the imperial city of the Ming and Qing Dynasties (the section of the outer Jinshui River to the east of Chang'an Zuomen was called the Changpu River in the Qing Dynasty), and it was part of the water system of the imperial city. The river flows out from the southern end of the Taiye Pool in Xiyuan Zhonghai, turns to the southeast, passes in front of Tiananmen Square, and then joins the Yuhe River eastward along the north side of the southern wall of the Imperial City, with a total length of 510 meters. The Changpu River is not only the outlet of the Three Seas of Xiyuan, but also the outlet of the Tongzi River in the Forbidden City to the south through the Taimiao Temple. The river channel reconstruction project of Changpu River Park was excavated at the original channel location and connected with the Jinshui River outside Tiananmen Square. The restored Changpu River is about 500 meters long, 9 meters wide, and has 4 pedestrian bridges. Its greening construction has retained more than 60 large trees on the river bank, and newly planted more than 500 trees, more than 2,000 shrubs, more than 16,000 flowers and herbs, and a large number of vegetation and river aquatic plants. The combination of greening construction and restoration of historic sites has created scenic spots such as "Red Wall Nostalgic", "Acorus Flowers in Spring", "Sky Light and Cloud Shadow". At the same time, on the basis of fully excavating the history and culture, appropriately set up sculpture sketches to set off the atmosphere and add the finishing touch. The night scene lighting of the park highlights the reflections of red walls and river plants, which is refreshing.
