Chishui Danxia

There are more than 1,000 square kilometers of Danxia landform in Chishui. Because of its bright red Danxia red cliffs, solitary peaks and narrow ridges rising from the ground, a variety of strange mountains and rocks, huge rock corridors and caves and beautiful Danxia gorges, they are in harmony with the green forests, waterfalls and flowing springs. Chishui Danxia has become a tourist attraction with high ornamental value.

Danxia landform refers to the long-term weathering and stripping of red sandstone and water erosion, forming isolated peaks and steep strange rocks. It is a general name for various Danxia peaks developed along vertical joints in the thick red sand and conglomerate layers. It is mainly developed in the horizontal or gently tilting red strata from the Jurassic to the Tertiary. This landform is typical of Danxia Mountain in northern Guangdong, so it is called Danxia landform.
