The Dongnanyi Historical and Cultural Block is a precious heritage left by the old Datong. Since the Northern Wei Dynasty, it has gone through more than 2,300 years from Liao, Jin, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The basic pattern of its Lifang system has continued since ancient times. After the Ming Dynasty general Xu Da built the city, the urban texture of Datong's four streets, eight lanes and 72 lanes was formed. The 76 acres and 85 courtyards here are repaired and patched on the basis of the old Datong's lanes. What is more precious is that there are 18 immovable cultural relics and 16 historical courtyards preserved in the historical block, which is the largest number of similar projects in the ancient city. Because it overlaps with the southeast corner of Guocheng in the Northern Wei Dynasty, it is called the "living fossil of Datong's Lifang system". In the construction of the block, we restore and repair it in accordance with the principle of respecting history, and at the same time integrate modern life functions, fully realize the revitalization and utilization of the block from the aspects of landscape and business functions, and make the block a living space with traditional charm and modern temperament.
