Basilica of Győr

St. Stephen's Basilica was built during the reign of King Stephen I of Hungary, and it took shape after several generations of bishops. The current church was rebuilt from 1968 to 1972. The exterior of the church is characterized by a mixture of neoclassical and neo-Roman styles, and the interior is dominated by gorgeous Baroque style. The church houses the precious golden letter of St. Ladislaus, containing the saint's skull and sacral relics, which are believed to be the only originals preserved from the Arpad dynasty. The cloisonné enamel craftsmanship on the chest side of the saint on the front of the Bao letter is a contemporary leader and is very exquisite.
