You won’t really hike as there are stairs. You’ll come across caves and cross rope bridges. There are some beverage and snack kiosks at the top, but I’d recommend bringing your own lunch. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, take the slide all the way down! It’s such a thrill! P.S: There’s an entrance fee, but I went in April 2020 when access was free. During the May Day holiday, visiting Daming Mountain when the azaleas are in full bloom is a sight to behold, with colorful flowers everywhere, offering a changing landscape at every step. Here's a recommended energy-saving route: First, take the cable car up the mountain, walk for about half an hour on the aerial walkway, punch in at the mine train, and then you have the option to take the 'Super Slide' down the mountain, or continue on the aerial walkway for about fifteen minutes to the 'Cableway Flyover' at the mountain peak, followed by a trail descent. Soon, you'll reach another 'mine train,' where you can take the train back to ride the 'Super Slide' down (we gave up because the queue was one and a half hours long at the time). If you don't take the train, you can continue on the trail down the mountain, walking for about half an hour to 'Daming Stone' (not sure if that's the name, it's a large rock with a crack and the character 'Ming' engraved on it). Here, you can choose to walk a section of the 'Steel Great Wall' to the 'Mountain Go-Kart,' and then drive the go-kart down the mountain. We started up the mountain just after nine in the morning and descended after three in the afternoon, which wasn't too exhausting for the child. Didn't take many photos, which is a bit of a disservice to the 'Little Huangshan,' next time we'll make sure not to rush and take more time to enjoy the scenery. It's a pity I didn't bring an action camera for the mountain go-karting; otherwise, I could have captured some overtaking moments if I had strapped it to the helmet. The kids were very resilient, enduring the whole process with gritted teeth. The adults took go-karts down the mountain, while the kids, not tall enough, took the cable car. The Steel Great Wall is indeed a test of physical strength, but reaching new heights offers varying views, and it's worth it for the beautiful scenery. Daming Mountain does not charge an entrance fee, which is very friendly. Travel detailed strategy: 1. Drive and navigate to the Daming Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Center, which is within 1.5 hours from Hangzhou. Additionally, there is a direct bus from Hangzhou East Station to the scenic area. 2. Take a shuttle bus from the Visitor Center to the mountain entrance; the cable car station is also located here. (The round-trip shuttle bus is 245 yuan per person, free for children under 1.2 meters) 3. Going up the mountain: 3 options, 1 is the leisure trail, 2 is the Steel Great Wall, 3 is the cable car (80 yuan per person). 4. Going down the mountain: 3 options, 1 is walking, either the leisure trail or the Steel Great Wall, 2 is the cable car, 3 is a combination of slide + go-kart (slide 50 yuan per person, go-kart 80 yuan per person, slide + go-kart combo ticket 100 yuan per person). Daming Mountain Scenic Area is not only beautiful, but also a national AAAA level scenic spot, known as the Little Huangshan in West Zhejiang. The terrain difference is more than a thousand meters, the mountains are high and the valleys are deep, the peaks are stacked, and the momentum is very spectacular. The climatic and geological conditions here are similar to those of Huangshan. The mountains are dark and like ink, like the ink landscape in traditional Chinese painting, with strange pines, strange stones, sea of clouds, and peaks emerging endlessly. At the same time, Daming Mountain is different from Huangshan. The several peaks over 1400 meters on the south side and three high mountain basins over 1100 meters have gentle terrain, lush trees, abundant water and grass, clear streams, and perennial. The forest coverage rate in the Daming Mountain area is high, and there are many valuable tree species, including precious Huangshan pine, large patches of Yunjin rhododendron, and summer wax plum, which is listed as a second-class protected plant by the state.
