Ten Thousand Hwaomkyung Pagoda (White Pagoda)

The Wanbu Huayanjing Tower in Hohhot is a treasure of human architecture left by the Liao Dynasty. 万部华严经塔，因其白色，又俗称“白塔”。塔高55.5米，基座周长56米，呈八角七级，砖木混合结构，楼阁式。塔的第一层南面有塔门，篆书石刻“万部华严经塔”方额，嵌于塔门的门楣上。塔内墙壁上写满了从金代起来自祖国各地的各族人民用汉、藏、契丹、女真、蒙古、维吾尔等文字书写的题记。素白的身影，几里开外便可入目，形成了呼和浩特的胜景之一“白塔耸光”。巨塔笔挺，虽经千年沧桑，辽代风格犹存，雄姿不减，敦实威武的形象和丰富的文化内涵，正是北方民族的写照。1982年，白塔被国务院确定为全国重点文物保护单位。没有门票，登记身份证信息就可以。
