The Sheeritu Temple is imbued with temple culture

'Sheeritu', in Tibetan, means 'temple', and in Mongolian, it signifies 'chief' or 'dharma seat'. From its name, it is evident that this is a Mongolian-style Tibetan Buddhist temple. Walking around the prayer wheel, standing under the blooming begonia and lilac trees in the courtyard, one can see the curling incense smoke and, by simply looking up, appreciate the multi-ethnic fusion characteristics of the temple here. The hip-and-gable style roofs typical of the Central Plains are adorned with dragon-shaped hanging eaves and walls, with rows of marble dragon heads beside the vermilion columns, as well as the standard bell and drum towers; yet the roofs are inlaid with Tibetan-style features such as the Dharma wheel and auspicious deer, and beneath the eaves are blue-brown decorated clay walls, along with the glittering Four Harmonious Friends; amidst the butter lamps and chanting, the silver Buddhas, dragon carvings, murals, and thangkas take on an added sanctity...
