Dragon Gate Tour in Kunming Xishan Scenic Area: A One-Day Travel Guide for the Year of the Dragon
Kunming Dragon Gate is located on the cliff of the top of Xishan. Xishan, situated on the west bank of Dianchi Lake and also known as Biji Mountain, was the foremost of the 'Eight Great Sceneries of Southern Yunnan' during the Yuan Dynasty and crowned as one of the 'Four Famous Mountains of Yunnan' in the Ming Dynasty. It is the best place to overlook Dianchi Lake, capturing the entire beautiful view of the lake.
Following the main road of Xishan, you can visit famous sites such as Huating Temple, Taihua Temple, Nie Er's Tomb, and Dragon Gate Grottoes. You can choose to take a bus, cable car, or scenic area electric car for sightseeing, or you can opt for a pure hiking experience. It's a great destination for a city day trip on the weekend. Climbing to the top to gaze at Dianchi Lake and Kunming, the spring breeze at the summit will refresh your spirits.
When visiting Xishan, you must go to Dragon Gate to see the 'Heavenly Mirror above the Sea'. Standing at Dragon Gate and looking down at Kunming, the horizon disappears, and everything is shrouded in a misty haze. Dianchi Lake, city buildings, distant mountains, fog, and sky blend into varying shades of blue, as if forming a continuous expanse.
To reach Dragon Gate, you need to navigate a narrow plank road and ascend stone steps after going up the mountain. Touching Dragon Gate in the Dragon Year is said to bring a full measure of good fortune. Kunming Dragon Gate Grottoes are completely different from the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang!
Recommended route: Take the Dragon Gate cable car (one-way 25 yuan) up the mountain — Walk to Dragon Gate Grottoes (ticket 15 yuan) — Take the bus (one-way 10 yuan) down the mountain
After descending the mountain, you can also stroll around Tea Horse Flower Street. See the next article for the guide.
We chose to climb up first.... using the Thousand Step Cliff (千步崖)see photo...On the way down, we took the ski lift... a better view with the lake to your right... unobstructed view.Good climb... not too difficult at all. 加油!
Not bad, the humanities are good, the cable car is still relatively long, the scenic spot has a car, it is not tired to climb up, it is worth a visit, not bad, the humanities are good, the cable car is still relatively long, the scenic spot has a car, it is not tired to climb up, it is worth a visit,
The joint ticket on Trip.com is more favorable than the on-site purchase. The bus goes down the mountain (you can go up the mountain with plenty of time and good physical strength). After the bus goes to the Naoer Tomb Visitor Center, it is generally a ropeway up the mountain. The scenery along the way is very good. You can see most of Kunming City and Dianchi Lake. After going to the top of the mountain, there is Lingxu Pavilion, going down is Longmen Cave and other Taoist Caves, strolling around and returning to the tomb of Nie'er, then you can take the bus down the mountain, play a circle for two or three hours.
The guidance of the scenic spot is relatively weak. It is easier for tourists who come to the scenic spot to go wrong for the first time. I hope that the guidance of the scenic spot can be strengthened appropriately. The scenic spot is very large, there are many people queuing up for the ropeway, but the ropeway distance is long and the experience is very good.
This is the ticket cableway package that I think is very worth the flowers. Convenient, the cableway goes up the mountain, walks down, the scenery is beautiful, and then takes the battery car and the bus to the foot of the mountain. There is a subway and tea horse flower street immediately. I have a good time.
This package is very good. It takes about 3 hours to punch in Lingxu Pavilion "500 Mile Dianchi Lake" and Longmen. The bus goes up the mountain and takes the cable car 🚠. After getting off the bus, climb a mountain road to the top and overlook the Dianchi Lake. Then go to Longmen and walk along the grottoes hewed on the cliff. You can go to Longmen and other attractions along the way. After the end, take the battery car down the mountain, then take the bus back to Xishan subway station.
Xishan Scenic Area is worth a visit, the price is not expensive, and you can see the panoramic view of Dianchi Lake, there is a feeling of relaxation! There are some humanities and history on the top of the mountain, there are free interpreters, you must like one! The price of the sightseeing cable car is close to the people, and you can go directly to the gate of the mountain top scenic spot! After going down the mountain, the most cable car goes directly across the Dianchi Lake to the Haitang Dam to feed the seagulls. The cable car across the water is still the first time to do it. It is worth experiencing it from the mountain to cross the sea!
