Outstanding

If you can't book a visit to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, I recommend Drepung Monastery, which is comparable to the Potala Palace. Drepung Monastery is the highest-ranking monastery of the Gelugpa sect and one of the three major monasteries in Lhasa. Even if you don't understand Tibetan Buddhism, it's worth seeing just the architecture and experiencing the atmosphere. Reviews generally say it's grand in scale, magnificent in architecture, and has a strong religious atmosphere, making it a must-see attraction in Lhasa. The white buildings cover the hillside and look like a giant pile of rice from a distance, making for great photos. However, due to the high altitude, you should take your time and explore slowly.
