Murray River(the Murray)

The Murray River is 2,766 km long and is one of Australia's longest rivers. It flows through South Australia, winding for 650 km within the state. Its banks are lined with weirs and locks, irrigating countless orchards, vineyards, vegetable gardens, dairy farms, and vast fields on both sides. The water that South Australians drink, which has a slightly peculiar taste, is all drawn from the Murray River; it is the lifeblood of the South Australian people.

The green, clean water of the Murray River flows slowly, with beautiful scenery on both banks. This river, which has a relatively gentle slope in Australia, flows past cliffs, tall red gum trees, navel orange orchards, and lush green vineyards before flowing into the sea. The banks of the Murray River are planted with spectacular, colorful river red gums. Flocks of white cockatoos and pink-and-grey galahs with hoarse calls take flight from the cliffs and river red gums along the river, passing through lush vineyards and orchards.

The Murray River basin forms a large alluvial plain, with an area twice that of France. It also serves as the border river between New South Wales and Victoria.
