The old drum tower of Yanzhai was built in the first year of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1909 AD) and was renovated in 1932. In 2005, in order to enhance the cohesion of the villagers, a new drum tower was built on the basis of the original drum tower. The drum tower is nearly 30 meters high, with 15 eaves, and consists of four main pillars and 12 supporting pillars.
