From August 2014 to April 2015, China completed sand-blowing reclamation operations on the southwest land area of Yongshu Reef (the land area that effluent at low tide is "reef land"), and the area of Yongshu Reef reached 2.8 square kilometers, and built Yongshu Island Airport and Yongshu Hospital. Yongshu Island will be China's largest material distribution center in Nansha, requiring large-scale transport aircraft over long distances. In 2015, the island area of Yongshu Reef was second only to Meiji Reef and Yubi Reef, and the third largest island in the Nansha Islands.
