Tihany

Lake Balaton in Hungary is the largest lake in Central Europe, located about 90 kilometers southwest of Budapest. Lake Balaton has become a world-famous Hungarian tourist destination for its attractive lake and mountain scenery. The Tihany Peninsula on the north bank extends deep into the center of the lake and is a beautiful place on Lake Balaton. From the top of the peninsula, you can see the whole lake area. The entire peninsula is a historical and cultural district. There are wildlife reserves on the Tihany Peninsula. The roads on the peninsula are rugged, the ancient trees are towering, and the scenery is quiet and beautiful. At the southern tip of the peninsula, there is a small town called Tihany, which is an excellent place to experience the style of Balaton. The cliffs formed by wind erosion, the monastery built on the volcanic rock, the monastery where the monks lived in the 11th century, the almond trees on the Chuchi Mountain, and the lavender in the mountains and plains form the scenery here. On the heights of the town, stands a Baroque Benedictine monastery built in 1055 - Benedictine Abbey. This white twin-tower building is the symbol of the Tihany Peninsula. It is said that in the crypt of the monastery, King Andrew I of Hungary, who died in 1060, is also buried. On the north side of the monastery, there is a bronze statue of a beautiful girl riding a horse. She is widely known as the Empress of Austria, and later Princess Sissi of Hungary. Princess Sissi loves Hungary and lives in Hungary. Of course, she often goes to Lake Balaton and Tihany Peninsula for vacation and recuperation. The most interesting thing on the peninsula is the "chili house". On the Tihany Peninsula, small-town residents are also inseparable from peppers. However, the peppers here are also used for a purpose, that is, they are hung on the white walls of the Hungarian houses covered with thick grass thatch, becoming a practical and unique scenery. Residents near the small town of Tihany also grow lavender, and the blue lavender fields on the hillside constitute another seasonal landscape.
