Basho has not been to Atsumi Onsen. Only his disciple, Sora, went there. Tsuruoka City is located on the Sea of Japan side of Yamagata Prefecture. It is a hot spring area on the south side near the prefectural border with Niigata Prefecture. There are large hotels and inns, but there are 3 communal baths. "Wenkai Onsen / Go no Yu" is also nearby with a parking lot. The hot water is poured into the bathtub with Dang 々 and is flowing. The hot water is also fresh and has a solid bathing feeling.
