The Xinlonghongshan Danxia landform is located on the southeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the western part of the Sichuan Basin, the central part of Ganzi Prefecture, the contact zone between the western Sichuan plain and the Hengduan Mountains, the spherical plateau mountainous area in northwestern Sichuan, and the northern part of the Shaluli Mountains. In the Cenozoic Paleogene of about 65.5 million to 23.03 million years ago, the intermountain basin of the Songpan-Ganzi orogenic belt was eroded by the Himalayan movement, the rapid uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the multi-level plume water system in the upper reaches of the Yalong River, forming a plateau mountain landform with an altitude of 4,000-5,000 meters. The mountain is north-south oriented, high in the north and low in the south, and consists of more than a dozen peaks. It is about 26.4 kilometers long, 4 kilometers wide on average, and covers an area of ​​105 square kilometers. It is a typical alpine Danxia. The Danxia landform is mainly formed by purple-red sandstone, siltstone, etc., with a high iron content and red rocks. It is called Rongduoba Ri Shenshan, which means pure land.

Xinlong Hongshan Attraction belongs to the mid-latitude subtropical climate zone, with an annual rainfall of 700-800 ml, showing typical continental monsoon climate characteristics, and is one of the hotspots of biodiversity. The Attraction is 130 kilometers away from Xinlong County, 55 kilometers away from Ganzi County, and 45 kilometers away from Gesar Airport. It is the highest altitude and widest area Danxia landform discovered in China's Tibetan-related areas so far. It has extremely high aesthetic value, ornamental value and scientific research value. It is the first quality in Sichuan Province, the best landscape on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the Danxia landform with brand potential in China.
