The room is small as in the photo! We booked with a window, but there was none! The baseboards are torn off and it is dirty behind the bed! Poor soundproofing! Water was brought and towels were changed daily. Not bad service - they checked us in quickly! Very good location - close to the metro and bus stops, as well as shops! Close to many attractions. For tourists for a few days - this is a good accommodation option!
Shanghai Yaoting Lingju ( Xiangyang South Road Branch)

Hengshan Road Area
Exceptional Stay in Shanghai - Highly Recommend! We recently spent two weeks traveling with our family in Shanghai, staying at five different hotels and homestays. Among all of them, our experience at the Shanghai Yaoting Lingju (Xiangyang South Road Branch) was by far the best. Accommodation: We stayed in the Family House - 2-Room unit, which was a breath of fresh air compared to our previous stays. The 80m² space was incredibly spacious, impeccably clean, and well-organized. The quality of the furnishings and equipment was top-notch, and the décor was elegant and modern, not cheap or dated like other places we stayed. Comfort and Amenities: The two queen beds were very comfortable, and the rooms had excellent noise insulation, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep. We loved the separate areas for washing and drying clothes, which added a great convenience to our stay. The three bathrooms were spotless and well-maintained, with no signs of leaks or issues that we encountered elsewhere. Location: The location is perfect for European travelers. The area is very green, quiet, and pleasant, with a wide variety of dining options nearby. Whether you’re in the mood for European-style breakfasts or local Shanghai delicacies, you’ll find plenty of great spots within walking distance. Coffee lovers will also appreciate the abundance of cafes in the vicinity. Special Features: One of the highlights was the outdoor area. There’s a cool table outside where you can enjoy meals or just relax. The courtyard itself is charming, providing a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Although the building is part of an older complex, it’s well-maintained and adds to the authentic Shanghai experience. Value for Money: The price-quality ratio at this homestay was excellent. Unlike our previous accommodations, where we often felt we were overpaying for subpar conditions, here we felt we received great value for our money. Everything from the high-quality repairs to the well-thought-out ergonomic design contributed to a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Overall Experience: Our stay at Shanghai Yaoting Lingju was exceptional. It surpassed all other places we stayed in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and overall experience. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Shanghai. It’s a hidden gem that offers both quality and value.
Hanting Hotel (Shanghai Jiangning Road New Branch)

Changshou Road Commercial Area
Nestled in a bustling neighborhood, the hotel I recently stayed at boasted a prime location adjacent to a myriad of renowned establishments. Its proximity to famous restaurants, department stores, a charming bakery, and the convenience store, Family Mart, offered unparalleled accessibility, adding a layer of convenience to my stay. Restaurant is next to the hotel that we recommend. **Location:** The hotel's setting was a traveler's dream, situated within arm's reach of gastronomic delights and retail therapy. The nearby famous restaurants served delectable cuisines, the department store offered a diverse shopping experience, while the local bakery's aroma enticed passersby. The adjacent Family Mart catered to every immediate need, enhancing the convenience of our stay remarkably. **Bed Bug Incident:** Regrettably, the comfort of the stay was marred by an unexpected encounter with bed bugs. The discovery of these pests in the bed was disconcerting, causing a disruption in an otherwise pleasant experience. However, upon reporting the issue, the hotel promptly responded and took necessary measures, exemplifying their commitment to guest satisfaction. **Hotel Condition:** While the hotel bore the marks of age, it exuded a sense of cleanliness and maintenance. Its older structure, though showing signs of wear, possessed a charm that hinted at a bygone era. The cleanliness of the facilities was commendable, despite the evident antiquity of certain elements. **Recommendation:** In conclusion, despite the unfortunate encounter with bed bugs and the hotel's aged appearance, I would recommend this establishment. Its cleanliness, coupled with the prime location near renowned establishments, presents an attractive choice for travelers seeking convenience and accessibility. With improvements in pest control and perhaps some renovations to rejuvenate its aging infrastructure, this hotel has the potential to provide an exceptional stay experience.
GreenTree Inn (Shanghai Huangxing Park Metro Station)

Wujiaochang Commercial Area
The hotel is easy to find, only two or three minutes away from the subway station. There is also a small shopping mall nearby where you can eat and buy things. I arrived early because I didn't pay attention to the time, but the attitude of the front desk was very good. She immediately notified the aunt to clear out a room and recommended nearby restaurants. I checked in in half an hour. The room was larger than expected. Although there was no window, it was equipped with ventilation equipment and was not stuffy at all. The only problem was that I suggested that the boss should put a curtain around the shower because the whole bathroom floor was wet after the shower. Other things were good overall.

Train Station Area
I stayed here for one night on a short layover in Shanghai. I contacted the hotel by WeChat in advance to double check they could accept foreigners and the little sister was helpful and kind, she later checked me in very quickly and efficiently. The room is super small but has everything you need, even a washing machine! The only issue I had was with the paper thin walls and fellow guests having no qualms talking very loudly in the corridor in the middle of the night…take ear plugs. The curtain on the small window to the corridor also didn’t do a very good job of blocking out the light…take an eye mask. This being said, the location is really good and I’d definitely choose to stay here again in the future.

Huaihai Road Area/Xintiandi Area
I stayed 10 days in this apartment. I was overall disappointed. +: Location / reactivity of the managers / view from the window / japanese style -: The location is actually 1km away from the address on the posting, that's disappointing and not very honest. I realized that after booking, and only because I asked / the apartment is quite small and not very well organized, with a lot of the space for 2 beds and not much space left for the rest. / the apartment was dirty, with hair in the bed and on the floor and stains on the sofa and bed. The managers asked for a ”deep cleaning” when i sent them the photos of the hair, but after it there was still hair in several places. Note that despite the fact that I was staying 10 days, the managers had not planned for a cleaning initially. / the A/C doesn`t work very well, I was quite cold the first days when the outside temperature was low. There is an extra heater but it didn`t change much. / the apartment lacked basic things (no chopstick or cutlery, no sponge to clean dishes, the toilet brush is just laid on the floor) - the managers bought things when I asked them, but it`s weird to have to ask for such basic things (they said that sponges are hard to desinfect...) / wifi is slow - it`s coming from the apartment next door / the lock actually broke when I was leaving - overall the apartment is not very well maintained

This is my second time staying here. This youth hostel is really quiet in a busy city. It is located in an old Shanghai Shikumen alley. It has a lot of life atmosphere. The bustling Huaihai Road is right outside. The room is clean and hygienic. The front desk and the aunt are very welcoming.
