We added bed linens with additional charges but then we need to install it ourselves. We are already tired travel from far and setting the bedlinen ourselves is unacceptable.
For the men's shared bathroom( not the toilet), the floor is full of dirt, without slippers it is very bad experience. I was showering with naked feet because I only travel with shoes. As there's a short distance from room to the bathroom that need to step through murt, other traveller slippers also became dirty and just walk into shower area with slippers on.
There's plenty of space for shared kitchen which is awesome, but the auto door lock made it very inconvenient for a single person that is in middle of cooking and need to open door for partner, because 1 room is only given with 1 set of keys.
I did not expect that the full windowed view of waterfall is only for ordering meal, oherwise I would rather spend 1 meal there for the scenery, sadly I missed the awesome breakfast.
The hotel room is as cool and clean as other hotels in Iceland. Because there are no street lights, it is very suitable for photographing the aurora. I just don’t know why I was given a room at the farthest end.
It was such a quaint place, but unfortunately all week we were there it was under construction, so noise from hammering and drilling was very annoying since this was booked specifically for meditation and writing of my book.
Stykkishólmur Inn is not just a hotel — it’s the largest artwork in town, where each hallway, room, and corner tells a story of something that almost happened.
Our rooms are cozy, simple, and thoughtfully designed for comfort and curiosity. Whether you’re staying in a small double or a larger room, expect:
Comfortable beds with quality linens
Private bathrooms with modern fixtures and soft lighting
Minimalist Icelandic design with occasional quirky touches
Wall murals and art installations just outside your door, part of the hotel-wide exhibition of “almost-true” history
Each floor features a different near-myth or unrealized dream — from UFO landings to peace summits. The public areas (lounges, hallways, stairwells) are part-gallery, part-time capsule.
You’ll find:
A welcoming lounge with seating and story fragments
Surreal murals inspired by real ideas that nearly happened
Calm, quiet, and clean rooms with personality — never clutter
A feeling that your stay is part of something a little bigger
Whether you're here for a night or a week, you’ll sleep inside a story.
This isn’t just a hotel. It’s a map of Icelandic dreams.
cute place, everything is very DIY, we havent't met anyone from the hotel until the next morning. apparently you get a code to open the door by email but we spoke to a few guests and none of them had received it, so you'll need to be able to make a phonecall to reach the owners to get the code to get in...

HHoEugeneEasy self-check in, which was great for us because we reached near 11pm. Beds were comfortable, heating was good. Best part was breakfast. Shared kitchen was well stocked with pans, eggs, milk, salami, oil, sauces, for cooking. Had a satisfying breakfast complete with coffee, juices and yogurt.
MMicrobe kaiMy wife and I stayed in a room on the 2nd floor, full of large rooms, and a cubicle similar to the living room, and the sofa is a sofa bed, so if there are 3-4 people, it is no problem; you can see the church directly from the window.
The room is completely slippers, very clean!
The kitchen on the 1st floor has complete ovens, gas stoves and other kitchen equipment to use!
There is a parking lot nearby and parking is very convenient.
