My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights recently and had a great time. The rooms were clean yet rustic and ours had an outdoor terrace with a private seating area. Breakfast was supurb with a great selection and exceptional service. Unfortunately, the restaurant was advised to be closed permanently, which is a shame. The lounge was great and we did enjoy some post dinner wine outside under the stars. Service was exceptional. The sound at night is very tranquil with only the odd car going down the road in front of the hotel. The views from the hotel into the valley are exceptional during the daytime. This hotel does need a car though as the closest places to go for dinner are in Montalcino. While not more than a 5 min drive, it would be a lengthy walk with some steep elevations. Parking in Montalcino was easy so long as you don’t mind a short walk. Majority of public parking is outside of the city walls. I would highly recommend this cute boutique hotel. Great value, great service, and an overall great experience.

Our stay at Castello di Velona was an extraordinary experience. The hotel's setting is absolutely breathtaking, with the historic castle offering stunning views over the rolling hills and vineyards of the Val d'Orcia. The ambiance is both tranquil and luxurious, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. One of the highlights of our visit was the incredible breakfast served each morning. The variety and quality of the food were impressive, with fresh pastries, local cheeses, and an assortment of delicious options. Enjoying breakfast on the terrace while taking in the panoramic views was an unforgettable experience. The service at the hotel was outstanding. The staff were attentive and professional, always eager to help and ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect. Their genuine hospitality added a personal touch that made our visit even more special. Castello di Velona is a unique destination that seamlessly blends historical elegance with modern comfort. Whether you're exploring the nearby towns or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, it's a place that offers a truly memorable experience. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious getaway in Tuscany.

Hotel dei Capitani is situated on the edge of Montalcino (only a 5 min walk from the centre) with spectacular views of the valley below. Rooms are quite small but provide wonderful views, a comfy bed and a well equipped bathroom. A good selection of cereals, pastries, etc were provided for breakfast on the terrace overlooking miles of Brunello vineyards below. There are some excellent restaurants in Montalcino so we didn't have dinner in the restaurant.

The hotel is very average, the rooms are big, just a bit smelly, but the environment is very good, you can see the sunset. The owner of the farmhouse lived on the opposite side. We went to the National Day store to close on that day, and he gave us some food.
