Swiss-Belhotel Balikpapan
4.2/598 Reviews
Location was good. Next to a mall. Mall was pretty much empty tho. Room was okay as I stayed only for one night. Might have to give a little bit attention on the floor carpet. There's some strangr smell once you reach your floor. Breakfast option was good. Overall for the price I paid, it was a good choice for business travellers.
Fugo Hotel Samarinda
4.6/518 Reviews
Hotel with views of the Mahakam River and the beauty of the Mahakam Bridge at night can be seen directly from the room, and the passing of coal carrying ships passing by on the Mahakam River. Making the Fugo Samarinda Hotel located in one of the largest malls in Samarinda (BIG Mall). The breakfast service is different from other hotels, which makes guests enjoy the dishes served by the hotel's experienced chef. Hotel Fugo Samarinda, suitable as a choice for staycation and business.
Four Points by Sheraton Balikpapan
4.2/549 Reviews
This is probably the best hotel in Balikpapan. The room is clean and comfortable. All the staffs are polite and professional from the front desk to the F&B department. The room service menu could be improve further but I love my Ayam Penyet and Soto Soup. Excellent food. Bfast buffet spread was also very good. Thanks to Karen and Inka for always making sure that all our needs are met. We will be back again soon.
Hotel Neo+ Balikpapan by Aston
4.5/581 Reviews
Neo+ was fine for a 2 night stay. It’s only 3 years old, so I was surprised at how well worn the room was, but it was pretty clean. The aircon leaked all over the floor on my first night but was ok the second. WiFi didn’t work well at all. Bathroom was quite sp**** - could have done with a couple of small towels and a hair dryer. Breakfast was mostly Asian with an egg station and toaster. The big negative for me was the location - not the best of locations for a visitor, and quite a long way from anything. Down by the water is far nicer.
Aiqo Hotel
3.4/510 Reviews
Room very basic and had seen better days. Asian breakfast only. Close to shopping centres. Staff hit and miss, I think it was the language barrier, even with Google translate. Asked if they could help with a visit to the orangutan sanctuary, started at the sun bear sanctuary, then the probiscus monkey area, finally got to the orangutan sanctuary only to find that they had only arranged for transport! Nothing booked, nothing seen. Would I stay there again ? Doubtful.

Mercure Samarinda

The place was amazing for a birthday dinner, an anniversary dinner, etc. The service was excellent, Mas Fajar was my server. He’s so helpful and detailed when describing the menu, he’s a well-train photographer for people like me who likes taking pictures. I really recommended this place to y'all that gonna have a special event coming up. The glazed salmon was delicious!
Royal Victoria Hotel Sangatta
4.6/516 Reviews
The only 4 star hotel in Sangatta. They upgrade our hotel to executive suite since the junior suite are fully booked. The security staff is excellent. They do.not offer the breakfast for online booking, but we can buy the breakfast for IDR 50.000/person.
Platinum Hotel & Convention Hall Balikpapan
4.1/548 Reviews
The preferred hotel for business trips in Balikpapan. The Guangzhou restaurant on the first floor has Chinese food, but it is a bit expensive, but acceptable. Laundry in this hotel costs money, and the cost is not low. Hotels in Jakarta do laundry for free.
J Icon Hip Hotel

Quite good. Although the blanket is thin. But the location is strategic in the mall area.
