I was upgraded to a Deluxe room but it was at the extreme corner next to the service staircase. Grateful for the upgraded but the room conditions were not up to par . Hair in shower room , the shower holder fell when I was taking it out and it dropped on my toe . Hence the blue black toe shown ( hehe ) . I could not sleep the whole night as the air con was very very noisy even when I lower the adjustment. The day curtain was torn . I sound it out to reception the next morning to see whether they can change my room as I was staying for another 2 nights . They did and I reckoned it was another up grade as now the room has a standing shower room . In the other previous room , you have to stand in the bath tub to shower and for a man of 65 , it is a bit tricky . The hotel really needs an up grade too . It is in a good location and CAT bus is nearby . The CAT shuttle is a complimentary bus that moves around the town area .
The saving grace for my trip was that the staff was up to par and reacted quickly . Well done on this .
Now , I wait for my toe to heal .
The location is fantastic, right by two large shopping malls, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient—just a three to four-minute walk away. While you'll need a taxi to get to the old town attractions, it means the area is much quieter.
There's a Hua Yang restaurant right under the nearby Gurney Plaza, and the wait times are much shorter than in Kuala Lumpur, so I finally got to eat there!
The facilities are a bit lacking and can't compare to five-star hotels in China.
However, the service is excellent, and they even offer a shuttle bus.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing; they start clearing up right on time, and the variety isn't huge.
Overall, the service was very good and proactive.
The building is very new. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment on the 27th floor, and the balcony view was fantastic. The room was extremely clean with fresh and comfortable decor. The bedding and towels were new and spotless.
The hot and cold water dispenser was super convenient, with clear instructions posted right next to it. It was very quiet at night, without the usual rumble of Southeast Asian motorcycles. The location is convenient, within walking distance to many teahouses where you can enjoy a local breakfast. The only thing to note is that the smaller bedroom has no window, but there was no strange odor in the room, so it wasn't an issue at all.
The service was good and the food was delicious . The water slide and the Amazonia splash was very fun ,but the beach and sea was very dirty. The playroom was fun , but it was only for toddlers ,the tween have nothing to do there. The hotel room was too cold,it was freezing in there. The overall experience was good .
The room is spacious, and Harun always does an excellent job cleaning it; his service is enthusiastic.
Facilities: Good.
Service: Very good, though it's a shame they don't allow a slightly later checkout 😂. They require checkout at 11 AM, and by 12 PM, they were already calling us to hurry up and leave. They're quite strict about not allowing late check-outs, probably because rooms are in high demand during peak season.
Environment: Very quiet, you can't hear any motorbike noise, and it's convenient for getting to all the attractions.
The hotel exceeds my expectations. The room has sleek interior design and is spacious and clean. The amenities look new and well maintained by repurposing rooms in the 15th floor. The lobby and the complimentary coffee is great too!
Location wise, not much going around the hotel but grab is easy and quite near to Georgetown too.
It’s just that my room has a weird smell near the bathroom (probably from sanitation/sewage) because it smells the same in the toilet near the swimming pool. Not a dealbreaker because the smell is quite contained and you won’t smell it from your bed or anything but it may be the first smell that welcomes you as you enter the room as the bathroom/toilet is area is just beside the door.
We had a good stay at Flamingo Hotel by The Beach Penang. The hotel is very beautiful, and the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was also good. All the staff were nice except for one person named mr Li. He was not friendly during check-in, and I happened to meet the same person again during check-out. He looked very bossy, double standard and unfriendly. I would recommend sending him for hospitality training, especially for front office service. Other than that, everything was good and we had a pleasant stay there….
Bad experience, I extend two mores day from 1/3 n check out on 3/3, receptionist move me from 411 to 312 on this morning, from King bed to double beds , I’m ok for this but when I check the bathroom there is no tower inside. 2.36pm I called to reception to asked for tower n reason given was laundry’s not yet send the tower, I don’t mind n waiting, until 19.25 still no tower send to my room, I went down to reception n looking for the mgr but receptionist asked me for reasons, I told him but he just said will send to my room but not even apologize to me , I really regret to stay on this hotel
Although the hotel opened in 2014, the rooms' facilities and cleanliness are still very well-maintained. The shower has great water pressure, making for a very comfortable bathing experience. The pillows in the room were a bit uncomfortable for me – too high and too springy. The bed was large and the mattress was very comfortable. My room didn't come with bathrobes. It was quiet at night, and the air conditioning in the room was strong. Directly opposite the hotel is a large shopping mall, and a big supermarket is not far away. It's also within walking distance to various attractions. The infinity pool is excellent, with a good long lane for swimming. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10 AM, and the food selection is substantial and fitting for a 4-star hotel, offering everything you'd expect.
For solo travelers like me, this place is incredibly convenient because of its excellent transportation links. All the main attractions – whether it's the beach, historic houses, restaurants, or various downtown spots – are within walking distance. I stayed here for a week and didn't need a single taxi. In the evenings, I could just stroll out to a bar or find some great food. I even made quite a few friends! The hotel's restaurant is also very good. Overall, the value for money here is exceptional.

KKC CharisIt’s very relaxing. Love the room and the views from the balcony. The in house Italian restaurant offers set lunch and dinner which was a good alternative to the buffet spread at the main dining hall. Breakfast spreads has a good variety of Asian local delights, but a lack in fruits and vegetables options. There is a little play zone with arcade game and a pool table, but some buttons on the machine malfunction and missing balls from the pool set.

GGuest UserThe rooms are new and well-equipped, with a pool and gym. The breakfast is more Western-style, with not a huge selection, but it's enough. The dining environment is excellent with beautiful sea views! On the downside, none of the front desk or service staff speak Chinese, and communication can be an issue if your English isn't great. For example, when we asked for more water, their 'Indian English' was completely incomprehensible! It's also about 8km from George Town, so transportation isn't very convenient. You'll also need a taxi to get to the best sunset beach.
GGuest UserExtremely disappointed! The hotel's hygiene was severely substandard. There were obvious hairs on the bed, and the linens clearly hadn't been changed. After I complained, they rectified the issue, and their attitude was good. Their 'mod' service was actually quite good, but in the end, they gave me a rotten apple (metaphorically speaking, meaning a bad experience or outcome).
TTini88We were a bit nervous after reading the reviews online but we had a really excellent stay. The rooms were super clean and modern with a beautiful sea view and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms had a kettle with teas, a hairdryer and iron and the shower was lovely and hot. Great AC too. The pool was lovely with a beautiful view of the sea and very nice and peaceful. The location was also great with a huge food market right opposite. Overall a really lovely stay
MMeiziMaggieThe hotel is right on Batu Ferringhi beach, offering unparalleled views of the Andaman Sea as soon as you open the window 🌅. The resort grounds are lined with palm trees and tropical gardens – a perfect place to feel relaxed while enjoying the sea breeze and watching the sunset.
This time, I booked an Executive Suite: double the space, double the view!
* **Spacious:** At 66 square meters, with separate living room and bedroom, there's plenty of room for kids and luggage without feeling cramped.
* **Dual Bathrooms:** Two bathrooms mean no more fighting over the toilet for the whole family, making getting ready to go out incredibly efficient!
* **270-Degree Panoramic View:** Large floor-to-ceiling windows + a private balcony provide essentially a panoramic view. Whether lying down or standing, you can take in the breathtaking Andaman Sea and tropical garden scenery.
**Tons of Kid-Friendly Activities – No Bored Kids Here!**
* Outdoors, there's a Splash Zone with slides and a kids' pool where the little ones can spend the whole afternoon.
* The indoor Adventure Zone offers large slides and play facilities (air-conditioned, so no worries about the sun!).
* The Cool Zone Kids' Club also organizes activities like crafts and kite painting, giving adults a chance to sneak away for a drink.
* The hotel has pool games, beach volleyball, and more, keeping the whole family active.
**📍 Convenient Location**
Turn right when you leave the hotel, and you're at the Batu Ferringhi Night Market, perfect for snacks and souvenirs. Across the street, there's a McDonald's, hawker stalls, and a supermarket.
**🎉 Hidden Gems I Discovered Only After Visiting:**
Shangri-La Golden Sands Resort is connected to the neighboring Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort!
* **Interconnected Facilities:** You can freely move between the two hotels and share their leisure facilities.
* In just 5 minutes, you can switch from the lively atmosphere of Golden Sands to the upscale colonial charm of Rasa Sayang.
* Most importantly, the room rates at Golden Sands are often half that of the Rasa Sayang next door! It's like enjoying the top-tier amenities of both hotels for half the price!
