Kwanza hotel by sunrise is new and modern.The hotel is beautifully located with spectacular views the ocean.Its perfect place to take a good rest with a nice atmosphere.The hotel is very clean.The food is tasty and varied.The most important is the staff in this hotel ,they are very nice ,polite and obligin,always smiling. You feel at home !!!!! The hotel management deserves a high rifting.Bravo ! Bravo !!!👏.Hakuna Matata in this hotel makes sens 👌👌😍😍.Thanks you for amazing time in this hotel.

Fabulous setting , wonderful staff and great food . We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to others - walking out from the hotel at low tide was a highlight and we saw puffer fish and box fish and a lion fish as well - but you need reef shoes . Rooms were clean and well laid out and little pool in the centre was attractive and fun . Everyone made us welcome . Just a word of warning and it probably applies in most places in Zanzibar . When we ate or drunk in the Hotel everything was presented to us in Tanzanian Shillings but to pay on card we had to pay in dollars and the exchange rate was very poor . On top of that the bank added 5 % ! So it leaves a bad taste ! Just be warned have lots of cash on you and lots of dollars

The seaside hotel, although the beach is not very good, but the scenery is pleasant. The 5th floor is a restaurant. The restaurant is very good for eating and watching the sea. It is suitable for vacations and is about 5 kilometers from the urban area.

A começar pelo horário em que chegamos: 4 AM e fomos recebidos não apenas com cordialidade, masacima de tudo com muito carinho pela funcionária da recepção que foi breve nas explanações sobre o hotel, atenta ao nosso cansaço. Chegando no quarto, tuo estava impecável. Ar condicionado ligado e frigobar abastecido. Os quartos são muito bem decorados e com estrutura completa: cama king, 2 cubas, banheira, cafeteira, chaleira, amenities de primeiríssima qualidade, roupas de cama macias, excelentes travesseiros, excelente chuveiro, sacada, armário espaçoso, bancada de trabalho e uma varanda deliciosa. Além disso, o atendimento é impecável. Funcionários simpáticos, dedicados, sempre atentos, rápidos, dispostos ajudar e adoram conversar. Destaque para o chef indiano do restaurante La Mer, que no café da manhã veio até nossa mesa saber se estava tudo bem e se precisávamos de mais alguma coisa, e comentei que eu gostava muito de ovos mexidos com queijo de cabra (item este que não tinha no café). Ele não só trouxe o queijo para acompanhar meus ovos mexidos, como trouxe uma peça enorme de queijo de cabra em uma embalagem para eu levar para aperitivar no quarto. So Lovely! Comida excelente! Boa carta de vinhos! Room service muito rápido. Limpeza impecável. Ambientes estilosos. A água do frigobar é cortesia e deixam em grande quantidade, o que é uma raridade em hotéis. Ganharam mil pontos comigo neste sentido! O gerente do hotel, Michael é um gentleman. Comentei que eu era agente de viagens e ele prontamente nos levou para conhecer os bangalos over water e também me ajudou a pontuar a estadia no programa de fidelidade da rede. A piscina de borda infinita para o mar é um deleite. À noite tem dj no bar e jantares maravilhosos no rooftop com preços mais maravilhosos ainda. Comemos um camarão gigante (que mais parecia uma lagosta) com buffet de salada e acompanhamentos por USD 10. O café da manhã é de cinema, com opções para todos os gostos e estilos alimentares. Um resort enxuto, lindo e funcional. O único ponto negativo é que não possui faixa de areia. Mas Zanzibar é para passear, o que não interferiu em nada na qualidade de nossa hospedagem. Voltaria mil vezes! Nota 11 !!!!

We had 5 days to relax in Zanzibar after a 10 day safari and we chose Chuini as it looked gorgeous. It is indeed lovely, but it is down a long dirt road with no other amenities around- that means you hire a driver to go somewhere or stay at the resort. Staying at the resort is not a bad thing- the pools are wonderful, the food is really good and varied and the grounds with the ruins is lovely. The beach is not a swimming beach so you are best going to the the north or east of the island for white sand beaches and swimming. The hotel staff were very helpful in organizing all of our day excursions and we got to see a lot of the island on these excursions. The rooms are beautiful suites with a sitting area and lovely patios too. Unfortunately our room backed on to the main road so it was very loud with fisherman leaving early in the morning (5am!) and then for most of the day with people passing back and forth. The spa is wonderful - we managed to get an excellent massage on our first day. But on Friday- our last day of relaxing we had looked forward to a day of pool and massage and chill, we were told the spa is closed on Friday- wish we had been told of that as it doesn't' state that anywhere in the spa literature! To add to our last day disappointment the resort ran out of beer on Friday- a bit strange for an upscale resort. Overall it was a very pleasant 5 day stay.

The hotel is very comfortable and it is very good to get a little more than the previous opinion, but I find the note too hard ... The swimming pool would deserve some more maintenance, that's true. The restaurant is very long, but it's a constant in Zanzibar. The meat is coriace ... But the frame is beautiful. And above all, the staff is really nice and deserves a 4/5

We had a week long stay at this hotel following a week safari In Kenya, we arrived at the hotel late evening and the first 10 minutes unfortunately set the tone for the trip. We were greeted by a lady in reception, who checked us in and ran through the format of the hotel. We were all inclusive and the main points she proceeded to tell us about was all the extra charges that we could incur outside our all inclusive package. The hotel has a lobster bar, which we were led to believe was included in our all inclusive package. We were informed that this was closed, when asked why, she provided no reason. This was a big selling point for us in booking this hotel as we both love sea food. We were then told that if prawns and lobster were on the a la cart lunch menu we would have to pay extra for this. Due to our late arrival the buffet had closed, she then told us that sandwiches would be sent to our room, a gesture which she did not follow through on. I did ask her about this the next day and she replied saying that she thought we would have been asleep. We stayed in the jungle garden room, which was basic but definitely not 5*, the bed was very hard and the room liked tired. We woke up the next day and had to ask for a tour around the hotel, a little thing, but perhaps something you would expect to be offered being a 5* hotel. We spent most of our time on the beach, which was very nice and idyllic. However, many of the sun beds are broken, with the cushions and beach towels stained. Throughout the day I did expect someone to come and offer drinks or at least collect empty glasses, but this never happened. We spent one afternoon by the pool, simply because the beach setting was much nicer and the sea was so clear and warm. Our main disappointment was the food- there was plenty on offer at the breakfast and at the evening buffet, however the major concern I had was food being left on the side in 30 degree heat, for a couple of hours. The restaurant was open and there was no way of chilling the cold food, so the fruit and salad never looked very appetising. One morning, as authentic as it might be, I did spot a monkey on the buffet worktop, which isn’t the most hygienic of sights. Most days we had a freshly made pancake/omelet for breakfast, then a slice of freshly made pizza in the evening, we didn’t fancy anything else. Lunch was freshly made, but very basic and pretty bland- I wouldn’t say a pizza, burger and chips and a pasta dish is particularly a la cart. The food in general was not of a 5* standard and for us was a major disappointment. If you are a foody, looking for luxury, exemplary service and a hotel with a fun and welcoming atmosphere this is not the place for you. We would not recommend.

This truly has been the best holiday we have ever had!! The staff are fabulous, nothing was ever too much trouble and the hotel is so beautiful with so much wildlife around. The Indian ocean is right there for you to enjoy the crystal waters and is so much fun. The kayaks were a great experience on the waves! The rooms are spacious and have very comfy beds! There’s a safe and a massive shower, we didn’t miss having a tv or a fridge as the jetty is open 24 hours for drinks. We loved the authentic feel we got here with the wood and natural stone everywhere. There’s so many staff members to mention but G, Joseph and Alex in the animation team were always a laugh and very welcoming. Soud, the head waiter and Renada in the restaurant along with bar staff Flora, Zena were just amazing! The chefs and the house keepers, as well as all the maintenance guys working so hard we’re all so friendly and welcoming. Yes there has been some renovation works but you have to have some allowances as they need to maintain the property and improve where needed and they can’t shut down the hotel for that. It never was a problem for us and we spent a lot of time at the main pool and the jetty. Obama at the crab tours sorted us some fabulous excursions and would highly recommend him.

Such an incredible stay for a vacation. I was dreaming of living in a small house by the beach and eating fresh fruits everyday, this hotel has the exact same vibe. if you like to relax and have a quiet surrounding, this is your place to go. Good for families, pairs and people who love quite. The location of the hotel was good, not too far from Paje downtown, with an empty beach. What I liked most about the hotel was the vibe and atmosphere, really nice employees, which are taking care of you and making sure you have a good time, they pay attention to details, what I really liked. The housekeeping is coming twice a day. As you are taking your dinner, they are preparing your bed for sleep with the mosquitonet and spray. Everyone is greeting you, making sure you feel good. I haven’t noticed any bad vibes at all. The hotel rooms need some renovation, especially the bathrooms and the food also a little bit of upgrade. But still a really nice place to stay, would definitely recommend it.

A fantastic experience at The Residence, Zanzibar. A journey started with a refreshing Welcome drink till our last breakfast in the hotel. The staff are so polite and careful that we felt like we have been taken care like the Royal Family. A special mention for The Manager Nitin and the Chef Satish who never made us felt any awkward situation for Vegetarians like us in a Sea Food rich region. The cookies offered were just awesome. The Villas were at a different level of excellency. Our request of checking our ACs’ were attended even at 3.30 am. Special vegetarian menu was made and served on request and the Desserts were just beyond WOW! All in all it was a mesmerizing experience and await to visit The Residence again in near future.

Firstly, I wanna let everyone know that I enjoyed the stay in this resort. The room was nice, air conditioned and always well cleaned. I loved the food in this resort - everything was seasoned very well, even though at the end of the stay it already felt somehow repetitive. The best were the fresh fruit juices, which must have been squeezed from the fresh fruit - lime juice, carrot juice, watermelon juice (it tastes completely different than in Europe, lol) and some other like baobab juice, all delicious. No wonder the all inclusive drinks were delicious too. If I'm to compare the drinks to Egypt, where they used bought juice of a poor quality, drinks here were much, much better. I also enjoyed the possibility of swimming in the sea after sunset (as it wasn't allowed in every resort I visited) and the beach was guarded by the resort staff. It was necessary, as even though the beach was right in front of the resort, it was accessible to the public, so there were locals offering you stuff, especially trips, with which were some problems before according to our travel agent. Most of the staff was very nice and helpful, but sometimes they seemed a bit lazy. The travel agent herself told us that the working tempo here is slower than the one in Europe and if we really want something, we should push the staff a bit if they're too slow. And of course, there was an evening program every day, but the entertainers expected to be tipped afterwards, so if you don't wanna spend unnecessary money, don't stay for too long in the evening. There was also a free wifi in the resort which worked okay, but only at the reception and the restaurant, but there were plenty of seats everywhere, so you could hang out comfortably. The access to drinking water was also okay, as all inclusive guests got a big bottle, which the staff could refill at the bar at all times except at night when the bar was closed. (The guests without all inclusive could buy this water bottle for 10 $, I think). The cleaning staff also put a small water bottle for every guest into the room every day after cleaning it, so it was impossible to run out. However, there were also several drawbacks in the resort - the worst from my point of view was the insect that was pretty much impossible to avoid, even at the room. Even though the resort was well kept and clean, we had to deal with several cockroaches in our room, one giant centipede, some weird leech looking bugs, a couple of big ants and even a small lizard in our bathroom. You should definitely close your suitcases at all times to avoid bringing this stuff back home. The doors and walls were also anything but soundproof, so we had to listen to a couple next door f***ing as if they were right next to us, which was definitely unpleasant. There were also very common short power outages in the resort, which was slightly annoying as the light could be turned off when you were in the shower, for example. I stayed with the agency utravel, in the week of Christmas and New Year. The location is very clean, with great facilities (beach towels, disinfestation rooms and preparation for the night, entertainment..). The meals are very good, despite the tastes are different from the Italian ones. I did not give five stars for two reasons: 1. Absence of the sea. Unfortunately, the resort is located where the sea is absent throughout the day. This forces you to make continuous excursions. 2. The electricity and water were cut off from time to time. At night we had trouble sleeping because the air conditioning was not working. In addition we were totally in the dark and without water.
