We arrived into Chester a good few hours before check in so wanted to ask if we could store our luggage, however our room was ready so we were told we could check in right away! (Great start!) We were also upgraded at a discount price (nice little touch there) The exterior is stunning, the revolving door (possibly my favourite part of the hotel haha) and grand staircase were just stunning! The staff were so friendly and helpful. I had cut my finger earlier in the day, it kept reopening and one of the staff was very helpful in getting me wipes and extra plasters as I’d ran out. The room itself was gorgeous!! We had a view of the back gardens which looked so nice with the autumn leaves! The bed was large and comfortable! I would love to know where to buy the pillows!! I HATE climbing stairs but they were just too grand not too. We didn’t eat in the hotel but we did have a drink in the bar whilst we waited for a friend and it was lovely. The food looked delicious. The one and only issue I had was the strange humming/buzz at night which made it difficult to drift off to sleep. However, I did bring earplugs and should have used them so that’s on me haha! Would definitely stay here again if/when we visit Chester!

There needs to be more food choice. Maintence IE change or repairs to doors or radiators should not be carried whilst guests are relaxing, working or having a late sleep in. On 2 occasions maintence staff worked for several hours ruining my stay. Very very noisey.

Rooms are extremely light and clean, sturdy beds. On the hotels official website, it states the rooms air air conditioned, however, this is not true. When we asked the guy on reception, he tried to convince me that I’ve read it wrong and tried to make me out as being stupid, but it clearly states the rooms have aircon but only the reception/lobby has air con. The room was very comfortable, could do with having some netting as looks directly into the offices across the way, unless you close the curtains.

I had a good stay with my girlfriend at The Tytherington. The only thing we were unhappy with was the food. It took about 1 hour to receive our food, and we were also told different information about the Kitchen closure time. Likely, we could give our order on time, but someone who was served after us was not able to. It seemed that on the day we visited, the kitchen staff was either short-staffed or had other issues. The staff behind the counter looked inexperienced, with only 1 or 2 who knew what to do, though they had too much to do already and couldn't assist. The view from their garden was great, over their golf pitch.

Don't put your room keycard near your phone as it deactivated the access to my room almost every nt. Other guests had the same issue and it's a long walk back to reception especially with disabilities and tired from sightseeing and you get to your room and you can't get in Restaurant good Staff helpful It's got a pool and gym which I didn't get to use

The location of this hotel is great, very close to Chester and all the attractions around. In terms of the room, our room was very spacious and the bed was very big. However it was two singles joined together, so a gap between the two. This is probably where the good bits end. The size of the room and bathroom really was a positive though, especially travelling with a baby. We had to pay £5 to hire a travel cot and in the end we didn’t use it. The cot mattress appears to have never been replace and was very thin and lumpy, making it redundant. The wooden slates at the bottom of the crib could be felt very dominantly through what was left of the mattress, meaning our baby was waking up uncomfortable and we had to transfer him to the bed. In terms of things that could do with improvement: Cleanliness The room floor was very dirty and could have benefited from an additional vacuum. Initially I put this down to arriving on New Year’s Day and then having a lot of people check out that day, but the whole hotel appeared a little bit grubby on closer inspection. The spa pool was exceptionally dirty. The floor coming out of the changing room covered in hair and general dirt. The showers looked like they hadn’t had a good scrub in months, with yellow build up all over the floor and walls. Not what you expect from a spa! To top it off after swimming I have contracted the Norovirus. Service Our first encounter with the reception staff was great the lady very welcoming and friendly. We met the cleaner as well who was also lovely. The rest of the staff we encountered were not so great. Either rude or disinterested, I get that it might not be your dream job but service with a smile goes a long way. Facilities The hot water takes a while to come through at busier times, this is signposted in the room. However, the water does not get very water at all. It does come through at a pleasant temperature, but not great if you like a bath or shower on the warmer side. There are three times a day when you can go swimming with children. It would be great if these times were restricted to children/families only, as there were quite a few adults sitting around the poolside and in the hot tub. Breakfast was ok, but a lot of the time left uncovered. Overall not a great stay and would be unlikely to stay again.

I recently stayed at the Steam Mill Hotel in Chester and had a wonderful experience. The hotel’s industrial-chic design and prime location near the city center made exploring Chester easy and enjoyable. The room was spacious, well-maintained, and featured modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any queries. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. Overall, I highly recommend Steam Mill Hotel for anyone visiting Chester—great service, stylish atmosphere, and excellent value for money.

Hotel is a bit old and lack of refurbishments. The room doesn't have good insulation especially during cold night one radiator still feel very chilly inside the room. Only one soft and no chair to sit in front of desk, the bed was a bit tilted. Overall it's an okay hotel if you want to have a short stop.

The room is very clean. They may have other business activities when they are on a business trip. There are so many handsome guys, all of whom are above 180. There is a favorite croissant for breakfast🥐 The surrounding environment is very good, there is also a swimming pool and a gym

GGuest UserI took my wife here for her 60th, amazing staff receptionist charlotte was warm and knowledgable, very kind giving us a token due to birthday. The infinity pool is amazing warm clean, Shrigley would make much more money if they served drinks while in the pool, but we would still be there now. The rooms are adiquate they are clean, the shower's are amazing, Dinning for evenning meal again was excellent, the service is 11/10 and I have been in a number of Spa the meal cost were really well priced with excellent food. Breakfast in the morning self service again pleanty to choose from and again tasty with great choice. It is a amazing spa with the ability toplay gold or have a number of treatments, and well priced, I will return there

GGuest UserWe have actually stayed here several times over the past month as it is so peaceful, comfy, and ideally located for what we need. The staff were so welcoming from the moment we first arrived, Ann on reception immediately upgraded us to a larger room when she saw how much luggage we had with us, she has also always greeted us with a smile and a welcoming hello everytime we pass reception and has been very helpful and nice to talk too. Shakir arrived just after Christmas and has been an absolute superstar with all guests, it appears he will help anyone with whatever they need. He is so pleasant to talk too and even encouraged my wife to sit with the staff one night and join in the conversation which for us was going above and beyond, as my wife has been socially isolated for health reasons. The housekeeping staff are always available should they be required and Rumi has been very helpful and always polite with a smile and hello. The hotel had been shut for years and only recently reopened, so is quickly being renovated. The Restaurant and Bar are currently closed but I am sure will be fully operational soon. The lift isn't working but hopefully will also be fixed soon. All in all a very pleasant stay and we are actually sad to have to leave. We will be back soon x

GGuest UserChecking in at the main Oddfellows hotel was smooth but it would have helped to have the exact address of the apartment in advance, so we could park more easily. There is one parking space at the apartment but it is a tight entrance! Apartment 5 was upstairs and very spacious. The lounge/kitchen/diner was well set up and the tea and coffee available was very welcome. Bedrooms and bathrooms were large, comfy and clean (but could do with a few hooks for towels or coats). There is even a laundry room. Decof is quirky and the location is great - just off the main streets. Fabulous place to stay.

GGuest UserWhen I used the pool it was virtually empty. I love that it was open until 9pm as it meant I could swim after a long day out. The room was big and spacious. Only downside is the shower wasn't great, there wasn't much power and the water was too hot. Could have done with having air con or even a fan as it got quite hot in the night. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay

GGuest UserStayed here recently for 5 days. Fantastic experience here. Staff are unbelievably helpful. Didn’t get all the names of staff but Dave in particular was extremely helpful and went out of his way to ensure a couple of parking issues were sorted immediately. The car parking situation is the only real issue I would have with the hotel as it is a small car park and spaces are on a first come basis but this would definitely not deter me from returning. Rooms are excellent, spotless clean.Easy 10 minute walk into town and nice walkways along the canal which runs alongside the hotel. If you don’t want a noisy awakening around 6.30am from the gym music below stay away from the first floor rooms, although this didn’t bother us at all as we were happy to be up early
